"During our two visits, we had different experiences. The first visit for lunch was a bit disappointing in terms of food and service. The fish and chips were underwhelming, with flabby chips, but the fish and batter were delicious. The service was also lacking, with waiters seeming disconnected. However, the sandwich ended up being tasty despite being dropped on the table. Our second visit for dinner went much smoother. We booked a table in advance and were promptly seated in the back area. We enjoyed a starter of baked Camembert, which was delicious and quickly devoured. For the main course, I had the confit duck leg with fondant potato and a butterbean and bacon sauce, which was flavorful and well-prepared. Overall, I would give three stars for the first visit and four stars for the second visit. Despite the disappointing chips, the duck was excellent."

Lovely lunch after a muddy trudge over from Southwold. The Bell is a welcome sight on a grey day. Food was tasty and beer was perfect. A glass of malbec warmed me up. Just wish our local was like this.

This family-friendly pub offers a charming, traditional atmosphere with beautiful views of the sea. Enjoy a selection of delicious Adnams ales while dining on tasty pub food. Located in the heart of the village with a picturesque view of the green, this is my kind of place.

Stopped here for a few drinks and to see a friends band perform. Stuck to soft drinks as I was driving and felt completely ripped off. £8.80 for 2 cokes. Very overpriced! I’m shocked that there are establishments that charge more for non alcoholic drinks than they do alcoholic drinks.

Arrived at hotel without a reservation. Immediately welcomed at the bar by a lovely friendly face. Asked got a table hoping we could get in. What a find. Exemplary service and food that belied the situation. Beautifully presented and cooked. We had a very special meal at sensible prices. If you ever go don’t miss the peach Melba Mille fueille!

This charming English pub in Walberswick is a delightful spot that welcomes dogs. We had a great time here enjoying a few local beers, including the delicious Southwold bitter. Although we didn't have a chance to try the menu, it looked fantastic. The cozy fireplace in the center of the pub kept us warm as we sat nearby. The staff are friendly and the service is swift. It's a favorite among locals, with many dog owners enjoying a pint and socializing.

we stayed in this restaurant on the way to visit family for the weekend. we chose the “light snacks” menu, although there was a more substantiative lunch menu with a good selection. I had a seasonal ciabatta with truthahn, cranberry and stuff, which came with a decent help from cramps and rinsed some salat with a pint aspalls down! my wife had a bowl of cuddles with white wine mash and garlic. a classic Moule-Marinières! served with a piece of ciabatta that tasted fantastic. will stop here again!

£39 for a 3 course Sunday lunch or £36 for 2 courses?! No veggie roast dinner option although I was offered frozen veg sausages or just a load of veg. It was VERY expensive for an average service and an ok meal. The carrots were hard and no green veg but other than that it was ok just VERY expensive for what it was. Also the front.l of the building needs some attention, entering is quite depressing with peeling paint etc Also we ate in the bar and a local came in and was chatting away to the bar man and frequently swearing at high wasn’t pleasant

Love this pub. It's close to the ocean, off the main green of a little Suffolk village. It's large: a warren of rooms and nooks inside with lots of high-backed benches, low beams, flagstone floors, and fireplaces. I was here at the end of a pub walk and had already eaten my lunch, so I only ate dessert, but it was a delicious treat indeed, a berry crumble with lots of custard. It has a friendly, family vibe, and seemed to be welcoming to people's pets. It also has a reputation for being one of the most haunted pubs in all of Great Britain. There are numberous stories of a devillish black dog, and even George Orwell claims to have seen a ghostly old man disappear here.

"Having been a regular customer for over a decade to The Bell Inn, I was left very underwhelmed this time. Room was lovely and clean as usual, Tom on reception was fab. We chose to dine in the restaurant as normal and booked for 730pm so we had a nice long evening to enjoy eating and drinking. The menu is now very limited compared to previous years, we chose to have 4 starters to share and some rose wine with bread to start. Slight delay on bread, which came crammed on a small plate, which we had to ask for side plates after waiting for the waitress to reappear…the oil and balsamic was awful, there was so much oil chucked in the ramekin we had to ask for another, to pour some off to try and get to the vinegar. Food came out, and was put on table, again had to ask for side plates as we were sharing and still had bread on the other ones. No drinks check. Had to wait at bar to order more. Food was mediocre at best, we both have very good appetites especially after the harbour walk and some wine! but both ended up just picking at it. Ended up going to room with our wine very early, the only other table in the restaurant that was occupied had some sort of problem ordering due to “fryers being turned off” and got sandwiches and chips instead! Slept well as usual. Went for a quick dog walk before breakfast and narrowly avoided being hit by the chef arriving at 845am in the car park. Arrived on time for breakfast at 9am, lovely, lovely waitress served us, ordered full English and pot of tea, partner the same with coffee. Took a sip of the tea and it was barely lukewarm… spoke to waitress who was very apologetic and bought me a fresh one, turns out the rest of the room all had the same problem with tea and coffee as the urn hadn’t been turned on in time see chef comment food came out and was delicious and hot, and top quality as usual, we cleared our plates! Room was spotlessly clean, and the Tyneham hand wash/cream is so good! Overall disappointing as I know how good this place can be, and the first time I’ve ever encountered any problems. As stated before it was not busy in the slightest compared to previous years, so no excuse really. I will return as The Bell holds dear memories for me, I hope next year it will have ironed out these problems and be back to full glory!"
