Whilst visiting the Vimy Memorial we stopped off in Avion for lunch and came across this little gem quite by accident. The food was exceptional and the service a delight. Don't let the shabby-ish neighbourhood put you off.

The food was traditional French, with a large selection of meats, including delicious steaks. Although there were no vegetarian options on the menu they made a very nice salad for one of the group. Handy location and good food.

This weekend we made the baptism of our princess in this very hot place. The very welcoming boss, listening to customers. A great meal from beginning to end with a superb table decoration. Customers and parents are looking forward to this pleasant moment in your hostel. Speisekarte ansehen

Very convenient restaurant just south of Lens and near the Vimy Ridge memorial. Typically French with good choice of meats including some excellent steaks. One of our group was vegetarian and whilst the menu had nothing suitable the chef did made a very nice salad of everything available in the kitchen. The starters were both visually attractive and very tasty. Main course were ample, with tender meat and a mountain of chips. Recommend if in the area.

Like a previous reviewer we had been to the Vimy Ridge Memorial and looked in the small town of Vimy for somewhere to eat. Finding nothing open we moved on to Avion and this friendly restaurant kept the kitchen open for us for lunch. The food was delicious, a terrine maison and a salad were substantial appetisers and rognons aux veaux (veal kidneys) and a whole bream were well cooked and presented. We would have done better justice to the food in the restaurant had it been dinner rather than lunch.

We had visited the Canadian War Memorial and the associated guided tour. We then set off looking for a snack lunch. As we came into Avion we spotted the restaurant on the corner. We managed to park nearby. It was quite late for lunch but the proprietor was very accommodating and agreed to keep the kitchen open for us, unlike this country!The set menu which we were presented with was not what we were looking for although there were some lovely things to choose from on the menu. However on the chalk board behind us there were other choices. Two of us had large tiger prawns cooked with a type of risotto. The other two members of the party chose Ris de Veau, which they thought was veal with rice... Speisekarte ansehen
