"Had a wonderful lunch at The Bassett today. We booked a table in advance to be safe, and were warmly greeted by the bar staff upon arrival. We decided to try the Mussels cooked in a creamy cider sauce with skinny chips from the specials board, and they were hands down the best Mussels we have ever had. The mussel meat filled the shell in almost every one, the sauce was delicious, and the skinny fries were a hit. My husband has celiac disease, and the landlady assured us that his meal would be gluten-free. We will definitely be returning sooner rather than later to this friendly local pub. Thank you for a lovely lunch!"

WE REGULARLY USE THE BASSET, BECAUSE THE FOOD AND SERVICE IS THE BEST AROUND, ALWAYS FRIENDLY WELCOME FROM SUE AND STAFF -GOOD ATMOSPHERE TRY THEIR STEAKS AND FISH DISHES STAR.

Ate in the restaurant for dinner. The staff were fine, but the food was not great or even good. Limited options for food, and the food was poor for presentation and taste. Also thought it was expensive for what was served.

Third time to the Bassett and once again it DID NOT disappoint. I had the special..fish pie ,truly homemade with loads of fish and amazing yummy sauce and potatoes, veg was cooked perfect and fresh .portions are generous so go hungry. The staff are very welcoming. Worth a visit, we will be back in September.

The food at this restaurant was excellent, delicious and tasted homemade. The atmosphere was also great, with very welcoming staff. The mussels were fresh, caught the same day, and tasted amazing with the sauce. The steak was cooked perfectly and the homemade chips were delicious. While the prices were a bit high, the quality of the food justified it. The restaurant is conveniently located near the popular Portreath Beach. I highly recommend giving it a try.
