"We were really looking forward to having brunch at the pavillion as we have good memories and have a history of good experiences there. We've all been so busy so we thought why not go to a place we know well to catch up. We...arrived and found a table outside easily as we usually do, so the visit started well. We went to order and the outside window wasn't open as it usually was but we thought nothing of it. Queued for the inside till and could hear everyone before us ordering food, we get to the front and I asked for a vegan sausage sandwhich and hash browns (was very excited as the menu appeared that they have extended the vegan options as I don't remember this being on the menu before). Sadly was immediately told not taking food orders, we've got a big party booked and the kitchen is backed up No option to wait for food. Disappointed and not wanting a wasted journey we ordered coffees to be told immediately there's a wait for coffee of minutes (it was actually way more than this by the time our coffees arrived). Disappointed again but we proceeded with our order and my friends had some of the cake that was left, sadly, there were no vegan options for me (I remember there used to be vegan cake so maybe they ran out that day again, very disappointing for hungry me). We sat at our table and caught up with each other as planned and eventually finished our coffees. We noticed people who did manage to order food were complaining of min waits for bacon sandwhiches. It all just seemed a bit odd because the large party hadn't arrived yet and the indoor and outdoor seating wasn't fun so how could the kitchen be so backed up . Eventually the large party arrived and it was a group of maybe people that's it. Again really surprising that this would cause such havoc on the kitchen and cause such big delays. Bit of advice: If you can't handle prebooking as it will stop your business as usual, don't take prebookings If you're taking prebookings and this may affect you then at least post on your social media go advise rather than letting people turn up and be disappointed, especially because Sundays people expect to be able to order food as usual from you If you can't handle the regular menu when taking prebookings then reduce your menu down to things like jacket potatoes, cook them earlier in the day and keep them warm in a hot pot ready for serving. You can do this easily with sausages and bacon too people aren't expecting fine dining with this menu The prices do seem to be a little more premium then before but again if you reduce your prices slightly people won't expect cooked fresh to order bacon and sausages which means you can cook a lot of this earlier in the day and avoid this backed up kitchen you described If you can't take orders just open with that when someone arrives at the till rather than letting them order and then telling them no You can see the staff were trying their best and were very polite about it. It's just a shame as I think the situation could have been avoided and the amount of people that didn't order food because of this one person prebooking must have amounted to a lot of money lost for the pavilion. Will be going to The Vardo on Castle Road Bedford or Dee Dees Diner in Biggleswade next time."

so disappointed. the caffe was so cold that we had to stop our moms. the personal we don't have friendly and not helpful. we had to go outside to order our food through a window! the loo is awfully cold and needs. a facelift. we will not return or recommend. as a scandal as a great situation.

Very, very poor and unprofessional customer service. Extremely long wait for a bacon butty minutes) and coffee was finished before food arrived. Coffee weak and tastless. White bread and really greasy hash browns. Nothing to recommend this place at all. And yet.... it is...a lovely venue in a lovely setting and could and should be a gold mime. Owner needs to get over there and sort it out or sell it to someone who will run it properly. Such a shame.

Visited today for drinks and couldn’t believe what we saw. Four tables under the sheltered part had cups plates etc left on them , we thought they must be busy inside but no they weren’t. When someone finally cleared the tables they didn’t even sanitise...them. Cushions on chairs are filthy, much better to have no cushions. A shame really as enjoyed the drinks and the view.To sum up, this used to be a pleasant and clean cafe which sadly now appears dirty and unloved. Speisekarte ansehen

We were so cold inside the cafe and asked if we could have the heaters switched on: the waitress returned saying that both the wall and ceiling were out of order. The Mac and cheese was tasty but sloppy and could benefit from being served...in a bowl next to the salad. The chips were cold but we were catching up with friends and just gave up and enjoyed the company. Sadly, the warm ambience of The Pavilion has gone and I do hope that the owners can get this back with a few tweaks.

I wanted somewhere relaxed for a quick bite of lunch and remembered this place from when i was a child. I do not know what it was like a few years ago but today it was great. I had tagliatelle and it’s was tasty, warm...and well presented. A lot of food as well. I did. Not have coffee but the tea was also great. Can not go far wrong with a bag but presentation and pot were good. Would I come again yes i would! We need to support these places otherwise they will turn it back into an abandoned park pavilion

I wanted to get a coffee that's so scared out. the time was while in the waiting queue that I decided to use the toilets, but you said they had cleaned them just so they were closed!. I went back to the waiting line. Finally to the front...at and was said that they stop selling hot drinks at told the waitress we would have been in the waitsnake, since only to be told that they stop serving hot drinks with me to leave the people behind me, and they all went away. asked to buy a cookie and was said that they have frozen and defroen or Speisekarte ansehen

preparing this was my favourite place to eat in bedford, so I can't express how disappointed I was when I came back last week. this once pulsating and stylish caffe with its delicious and interesting menu, and really friendly staff was reduced to a bowl...from its former self. it is as if the new peculiarities consciously destroy everything about the place that made it so popular and successful. what remains is a cold and soulless place with a boring, running the mill menu and stand-offish coworkers. such a loss to our community. I am horrified!

Visited today with two friends for lunch. The first thing we noticed was how cold it was inside. One of our party is having medical treatment so we asked if the heaters could be turned on only to be told they weren't working....what all I could see) of them?? Highly unlikely. likely a cost saving exercise...we should have realised when seeing all the staff wearing their coats. The food was reasonably prompt but hot food was served on cold plates in a very cold environment. Whilst it was very nice it very soon got cold. I had a hot chocolate drink after my meal and that was delicious and hot! Reading the other reviews it would appear that things seems to have taken a turn for the worse. Much...

"this use to an old favorite restaurant of us many years ago before it changed the hands. we saw the alex polizzi TV program, but since then did not have the opportunity to visit. we have booked online. when we arrived, I tried to explain that we had reserved online, but the waitress did not seem disturbed, nor did she check. she wanted to tell us that the pizza oven didn't work so there were no pizzas or garlic bread etc. it was good to say before we came to our table and we appreciate it. the food was excellent and the chef came out a few times to check that everyone enjoys his meals, which was a very nice note. the waitresses were very pleasant, but seemed to have confidence in what they did. there were some confusion about our weeping mission, which was our fault. we were not offered when we arrived, and it was only after they came for our food order that we could ask for drinks. there was a pretty wait for our appetizers (tomatenbruschetta and mushroom bruschetta) and then the main dishes (tomatenwurst al forno and lasagne), but if that is what it takes to prepare the excellent food we enjoyed, then it is worth it. we also think that we are too familiar with restaurants that almost food of not particularly good quality. overall a very good experience and we will return. Perhaps the waitress could do with a little, but more workout to improve her confidence."
