1 star for being not dog friendly. Pub in such hiking area where people obviously take their doggos. We were 4 people with a small dog starving after a hike not even a busy time of the day and were turned away together with another couple. That’s losing 6 customers in 5 min! Not a great business mindset, not flexible for such area. Dogs are very welcome at Howard’s Arms to all those turned away like us!

I had a very enjoyable stay at a cozy hotel in a charming village in Cumbria. The rooms were clean and tidy, providing great value for the price. The breakfast was delicious and satisfying. I highly recommend this place. The Black Sheep beer was excellent, with a full body and not too hoppy. I would rate the rooms, service, and location a 5 out of 5. Overall, this hotel offers great value for a wonderful stay.
