"This restaurant is a bit out of the town centre, but still an easy 10 minute walk over the river from the main square. (If you're driving there's a big car park outside.) Central Castres, to us at any rate, did not appear to be over-blessed with good restaurants so we were fortunate that this one was recommended to us by the proprietor of the Hotel Renaissance and we ate there two evenings out of three. Brasserie Marso is a well run bistro with welcoming, efficient staff and traditional French brasserie decor on two floors. You may need to book at busier times of the year (05 63 35 79 30)."

We booked a birthday meal in Brasserie Marsso. We weren't disappointed! Excellent service, simple but well executed dishes. I recommend, I'll be right back! Speisekarte ansehen

Reinvented in time and retains its brewery spirit from the beginning. Despite the world it can be, the servers are smiling and pleasant. The terasse is pleasant on the new square. No apartment during our meal.

Great! The pairillade (plaque with several fish) very good, gamba salad, scallops and smoked salmon was top, a bit long for the service but frankly the quality of the dishes and desserts was at the RDV. Quality service. We'll be back.

This restaurant is near the station, not far from the town centre. We ate at lunchtime on a Sunday, and found the restaurant to be unpretentious with a good range of entrées, main courses and desserts. The service was very good, and the food was excellent. Our dog, who is very well-behaved but a little large, was made welcome too. We'd definitely recommend it and will go back again. Speisekarte ansehen

this restaurant is something outside the city center, but nevertheless a simple 10 minutes walk over the river from the main square. (if they are on the go, there is a large parking space outside of castres, to us at some price, seemed not to be... over-priced with good restaurants, so we were happy that this was recommended by the owner of the hotel renaissance and we there two nights from three. brasserie marso is a well-runned bistro with welcoming, efficient staff and traditional French brasserie decoration on two e. they can be booked at busy times of the year (05 63 35 79 30.)

"The Mediéval occupies an 11th-century building built on the left bank of the Agout River; you enter from the first street to the east — the door is a few steps below street level. We chose this restaurant because one of our party had been here ten years ago and had a very positive memory of it. We weren’t disappointed. Its name refers both to the date of its building and to its ambience: the room has a vaulted ceiling supported by arches, thick walls, an old wooden cabinet, and some medievalish decorations. The main room holds about fourteen tables; a further couple of tables are in an adjoining alcove, and a porch overlooking the river allows a couple of small tables, used seasonally. The tables are placed fairly close to one another but the feeling isn't quite cramped, especially as only four other tables were being used. The white tablecloths and sturdy chairs enhance to the comfortable feeling. We were greeted warmly for lunch, and the daily specials were explained to us. The 17€ menu of the day seemed good value. There were no choices. It began with a light and tasty fish mousse on salad greens with vegetables; this was the most creatively conceived and interesting part of the meal. It was followed by a "plat" of turkey with a particularly notable mushroom gravy and mixed mashed potatoes. The dessert was pears in a rich caramel cream. As others have noted, the portions are generous. Nothing could have done better, though I’d reinforce what another reviewer says, that with the gravy, mash, and caramel cream dessert, this was by no means a low-fat meal. Good crusty rolls were given us and replenished. We included a bottle of recent Gaillac wine, modestly priced. Service was quite friendly, but, as other reviewers have noted, sometimes a bit slow, since the staff is small. (Accordingly, I've rated the service "average", but it was much better than average in warmth.) We were in no hurry, though, and didn’t mind. Given its pleasant setting and and comfortable room, the friendliness of the staff, the good value, and the very interestingly conceived and well prepared (though rich) food, I’d recommend the Mediéval to others."
