"We have thoroughly enjoyed visiting this cafe in the past but were disappointed on our recent visit. When we last came it was just opening up and selling pies but we hoped the menu would have expanded by now to include sandwiches (which the menu said may be available but they weren't), salads etc. We didn't enjoy the pies we had but to fair that may have been personal taste. A lot of the reviews on trip Adviser date from when this place was run by others and had very different menus. So, if you like small warm pies, this may be for you but we shall not be rushing back."

Tomato and basil soup with chunks of sour dough bread. We had visited the Artic Convoy Museum and stumbled on this little gem.

Really good coffee and lovely cake, smashing bacon roll for a late breakfast. Not had lunch here yet but that looks good too! Friendly welcome and there is an art theme with work by the owners on display we got some lovely greetings cards. A real asset to the area.

This tiny cafe with home made everything gets my vote. The pies are fantastic, especially the steak and ale. The choice of sweat treats is small but enough, I recommend the cherry custard tart. The owner is lovely, really wants people to appreciate her cooking. Good things come in small bundles. This is one.

Unfortunately I have to agree with the last few reviews on here. Food was terrible and basically inedible. Maybe that's why it's take away so you are far enough away when you realise how awful it is! Pies burnt and tasteless unless you like the flavour of charcoal! Also quite expensive for what they were! I definitely would not return

Visited here with family as have been in the past. It seems to be run by a lady now. When we arrived she was very rude and not welcoming at all. We ordered food and drinks. The pie we ordered was inedible! Burnt on the bottom and very bland filling. Such a shame as this was a lovely little cafe in the past. Hopefully we just caught her on a bad day and things are usually better.

Awful. We visited this cafe regularly when in the area but hadn’t been since it was in new ownership. Poor menu, pies were inedible and even the hot chocolate was foul. Steak and ale pie was burnt and dried up. Goats cheese and beetroot pie was disgusting, leaving a greasy film in my mouth and a horrible taste. All our food and drink went straight in the bin. I would never go there again!

We have been here many times and seen changes over the years but always enjoy it and this time our visits were just as enjoyable. Lunch was superb delicious sandwiches served with salad and chips. On another recent visit we had coffee and cakes in the morning and also tried the smashed avocado on toast which is the best version of this I have ever had. Well done to the great staff here. Look forward to returning!

Lovely cafe with menu based on freshly handmade sourdough. The teacake that I had was absolutely beautiful, full of fruit (see photo) and served with cream and jam. We had a cappuccino and a hot chocolate, both excellent quality. We sat outside on the chairs provided and enjoyed the fresh air but the cafe inside was homely and the service friendly. Will definitely visit again for something more substantial from the lunch menu.

"We had the best time here on Saturday lunch. We arrived early to a quiet restaurant and were greeted by super friendly and well informed staff, who made us feel at ease and explained their new ‘small plates’ menu. Our kids were given a nice menu with colouring in and nothing seemed too much to ask for. We decided to let our 4 and 6 year old order from their kids menu and hoped they would try some of our dishes too. The menu really is very appealing, so much so that the 3 adults ended up ordering EVERY dish they had on the menu in the end! I think it was 16 various dishes of meats, fish, veggies and pasta’s. All homemade and with a really modern vibe. Our waitress was soo good at making us feel at ease we had the best time. A few dishes were ordered and came out really fast we were overjoyed at how beautiful they looked, and the flavours we so well balanced and punchy we got really giddy and decided to order all of the other dishes and just share them all out. Have to say each dish was a triumph, my favourite was the pork ‘burnt ends’ with sweet and sour carrots and a mustard sauce, my partners was the pointed cabbage dish with sesame, my mothers the beetroot and goats cheese crispy ball. They all were delicious, and our kids tried loads of new things like a crab pasta and a cheesey focaccia. It seems like they really thought these little dishes out soo well, temperatures, textures, colours, flavours, elegance we’ve not had anything like this outside of London. So, 16 plates in, plus the kids had their main course… we were all full up, felt like we’d been on a culinary adventure. And then we were offered something sweet okay maybe we were just being greedy, maybe we just couldn’t resist not trying more?! The kids had a ‘build your own dessert’ of ice cream and sauces and sprinkles and cake bits looked great but sadly only for kids! We had their ‘sweet things’, kind of like large petit fours. Chocolatey cake balls, salted caramel truffles and tart passion fruit jellies all were amazing! By the time we left, the restaurant was really busy and I can see why we will most certainly be coming again! Thank you!"
