We stopped by on a rainy weekday afternoon to sample some wines. They offer free tastes! Loved everything and bought four bottles. Great place to sample some Chinon wines.

Cave des Silenes is a lovely place to stop for a glass of wine and a simple meal on your way to the Chinon castle. Food is delicious (cheese or charcuterie platters, salads and a very appetizing cafe gourmand!) and you can try an interesting range of beautiful Chinon wines. Don't forget to inquire about the "cave de tuffeau" tour (cave dug in the lical stone), it is one of the most beautiful cave I have ever seen.

We stopped there a little by chance to find wine (we bought wine, we didn't get restored on the spot), chance fell well, very friendly boss, she recommended the wines that we liked, she made us taste without forcing any purchase; sharing his love of the profession, passionate and pleasant. Location can't be more perfect ! Just by the main road opposite the carpark so you won't missed it! Next to the entrance of château chinon. Staff Pierre speaks excellent English and very friendly and helpful. Provide information regarding the wine we tried.. Food we ordered the mushroom ham bruschetta, comes with side salads. So well marinated that everything just melts in the mouth! Dessert chocolate tarte with rhubarb ice cream so yummy.. I attached a few photos for reference..
