Food was less than mediocre. Beautiful setting. Attentive staff. Get a new chef?

Historic decor, very rich interiors. Cosy dining area, very private, very good service. Would recommend.

Service was slow and staff not attentive. We had the pre Theatre menu and it was awful. It is such a shame as it is a lovely place.

For its decor and price, mostly average We had the three course dinner menu, and I chose the prawn cocktail, steak and cheesecake.

What a stylish and sophisticated restaurant. The ambience is beautiful and elegant, the service is excellent, and the food is delicious. My girlfriends and I were seated at a corner table we really appreciated as we had asked for privacy. The atmosphere was lovely and subdued, perfect for our catch-up. We had the three course offer and a nice bottle of wine with it and thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon. We will definitely go again.

Three stunning Victorian townhouses were transformed into a hotel in 1922, and have recently been restored to impeccable standards. The beautifully decorated restaurant, with soft lighting, is located at the back of the ground floor. The background music consists of classic Jazz Age tunes. The raviolo was a bit tough, the chicken pot pie was too watery, and the millefeuille was presented perfectly but was difficult to eat without a knife. The service was haughty and slow, and the prices were incredibly high. The other diners were all American hotel guests. Overall, the experience was not unpleasant, but slightly unusual and very expensive.

Chenestons is a wonderful find! We couldn’t have had a more superb experience. Leo and Julia are really excellent – their customer service is outstanding. All the other staff were equally superb, warm and genuine, I didn’t catch their names. It really is a special place and I was so excited because some of my favourite music is Glenn Miller and Al Bowlly and this was gently playing in the background which enhances the 1930s and 40s feel of the place. I was in utter heaven! The food was wonderful. We had help choosing our wine and Leo understood exactly what we liked and what would match our food and he didn’t oversell or make us choose a really expensive bottle.
