"Absolutely disappointed beyond belief. Why even bother opening and advertising that they do food? We really should have walked straight back out the door upon entering. But we had read reviews and really wanted to try this place. The staff were disinterested. Pointed to a table where we were to sit for our evening meal. We were given what can only be described as filthy sticky pieces of paper that were supposed to represent a menu. The table was dirty and sticky with drink stains. Nevertheless we proceeded to order 3 main meals. Over an hour later we still had no food and not once did anyone come over to the table to explain why. The place was by no means busy. There were 4 tables with customers! After approximately an hour and 10 minutes we asked if there was a time that we could expect our food to be ready. Bearing in mind our order was for baby back ribs, a steak burger and a chicken skewer. So not overly complicated. We were told that there was only 1 chef working!. And that the manageress would go and check for us. She returned to say that food would be ready in 5 minutes. Approximately 10 minutes later the baby ribs and steak burger arrived. We had to wait a further 5 minutes for the chicken skewer meal. When it did arrive the chicken was cold and absolutely cremated. So much so that the chicken itself had started to disintegrate and a powder of charcoal remains were on the plate. Absolutely disgusting and inedible. Our entire party left all the food and we went to the bar to pay and left. Disgusted, disappointed, disillusioned and would NEVER RETURN"

"I'm sure others have a better experience, but our room was right at the front of the building directly on a busy road. and our overnight stay was ruined by a window that wouldn't properly close. No sleep at all to be had as a result. Generally, someone has obviously spent a good deal of cash updating the rooms in the not too distant past with many luxury touches, but the decor and facilities are now fading. It was also disappointing that no vegan options at all were available for breakfast. Rooms: 2 Service: 3 Location: 2"

"We have supported this restaurant for the many years that it has been an Uckfield. I took my wife there a couple of weeks ago after a busy week to celebrate her achievements. We indeed told the owner that we think it’s one of the best Thai restaurants that we have eaten at. However the meal that we then had can only be described as terrible every single dish without a doubt had been in my opinion cook chilled bought it a wholesale warehouse heated up and served. There was absolutely nothing about the meal that gave one any sense that the cooking have been done on site. It was such a disappointment At the end of the meal the owner asked us if we enjoyed ourselves and we regrettably had to be honest to say that we didn’t and also whether they had a new chef because the quality food went from excellent to frankly unpalatable. The owner said that he thought the current chef which was indeed a new chef was better than the previous chef. Normally when a customer is dissatisfied a gesture is forthcoming but in this case utterly nothing this was the last time we will ever eat at this restaurant Absolutely shocking and I would avoid and tell everyone I know to avoid this restaurant at all costs"

"The last time I visited this restaurant was 6 years ago, it WAS a real hidden gem. When I walked in this evening nothing had changed and I was hoping the food would be just as good as I remembered. Service was slow which surprised us as it was a Sunday night and pretty empty. We were given some olives while we ordered (the nicest part of the meal unfortunately). My boyfriend ordered the garlic focaccia with caramelised onion; the bits that had cheese and onion on were very tasty but this was only about 30% of the focaccia, the rest of the bread was over cooked and bland. I ordered bruschetta which was completely underwhelming. 4 small pre sliced bits of stale bread, some chopped up soft tomato and pesto with rocket in the centre. I could have made this at home. For mains I ordered what I always used to have, linguine alla marinara. The portion of pasta was decent, however I only counted 6 pieces of seafood and one large prawn on the top. The menu states it also comes with tomato’s which there were none of. The flavour tasted like buttery pasta with a hint of garlic, again completely underwhelming. My boyfriend ordered spaghetti meatballs. A large portion but completely inedible as it was absolutely disgusting. The sauce tasted like pure tomato purée, so lumpy and stodgy and the meatballs were like nothing we had ever tasted, VILE. We decided to bring the rest of the portion home for my mum (a head chef) to try. We wanted to know what she thought the flavour was as we were confused as to how you can make a meatball taste so vulgar! She spat it out immediately saying it tasted like it had either been cooked in or made with rancid/old fat. The cherry on the top for us was when we asked for the bill. We were given the generic boiled sweets that come with it. 2 of the boiled sweets were in wrappers however there was a third that stuck them all together that was half chewed, out of it’s wrapper. The place was COVERED in cobwebs, decor completely outdated with many flashing lights, menu pages stuck together and stank, looked like they had many a drink spilt over them and not once changed. Don’t even get me started on the toilets! We cleaned our own cutlery it was so filthy and swapped side plates with an empty table next to us as ours had food still on them. Left feeling completely disappointed and are both now suffering with major trumps. Will not be returning again!"

"my wife and I visited this pub today, Sunday april and both ordered the beef. we found the bark to be hard and strict. we were asked if everything was in order and guess that the meat was very hard. the lady, we offered ourselves steak knives that we accepted. even then it was hard to cut. at a nearby table had a father with young great difficulties to cut her flesh and his own. While he did not complain, it was obvious that neither he nor his youngs had eaten a lot. we have eaten at this place and enjoyed the meal. with regret, however, we do not see any further journey there. our day was planned there with a meal after we had visited sheffield park. this in itself shows that this was one of our most popular decisions to eat."
