Chez Arno - Speisekarte

Really typical French cuisine. Tete de veau. Sardines. Sweetbreads. Canard. Faux fillet. And an endless list of wines.

We arrived in the middle of the week, there was very little table, we really waited a lot of time. I really think it's a shame. Despite this, the dishes are incredible, and the very reasonable prices.

My wife and I both had the 3 course menu, and liked everything we had. Highlights were the veal sweetbreads and the stuffed rabbit filet. The restaurant also has a very well-chosen, interesting wine list, and we had a fantastic bottle of Seyssel, a wine from the Savoie area made from Roussette grapes. Speisekarte ansehen

Traditional menu, served in a nostalgic environment (right down to the transparent glass plates). The presentation of the dishes is rather basic. Family cooking without surprises. The price, however, is high. But excellent service otherwise. I would have given it 3.5 stars (14/20) but hey, a small restaurant to visit at least once.

This was a nice surprise. Segny is a pretty small place and other than the bakery, this is about it. The "plat du jour" was not a disappointment and we weren't rushed to enjoy it. I get the impression that this is a small family run setup as the meals were definitely home-made.Quite pleasant to have a number of other tables taken that gave a great ambience.

All ingredients, food and desserts are absolutely fresh. Traditional plates only, changes very often. Wines are simple and young but really good and carefully chosen by the chief himself.Being a lover of good fresh cooked and tasty food lover I can only recommend it.All is in the plates, what else to say?Small place better get there soon or book your reservation. The restaurant is located in the centre of Segny (not Gex). The menus offer very good value for money, there is a terrace also for those balmy evenings. The service can be a bit slow as there is only one waitress. The waitress’s personality and professionalism more than makes up for the occasionally slow service though. A very good local bistro, they open on Monday evenings which is very unusual in the pays de Gex.

Okay, this visit actually happened in July 2013. We were at the end of a 12-day vacation through Switzerland, Italy and France. I wanted French food for our last night. But, it was Monday and most of the restaurants in the town we were in were closed. Finally, I asked a few young people closing up a bakery. One young woman spoke enough English to say there was a new French restaurant near where she lived and we could follow her there in our van. So we did. two towns away! Didn't know this place that a friend suggested. Small and cozy restaurant, bistro and rustic ambiance. Started with a fois gras and fig terrine served with a few rampon leaves and toasted bread (toasted too much for my taste and becomes too hard and brittle) - very good taste and fair portion. One of us had grilled fish served on layers of spinach and brown lentils - quite tasty and well presented. Fresh ingredients. The other took a big salad with fois gras and it was apparently very good, well presented too. 2 appetizers and 2 meals, plus 2 glasses of wine for each of us (4 glasses total) for euro 36 p/person.
