"My father booked for Christmas Day lunch on the basis of liking the new owner's other hotel. Unfortunately, the meal was very small portions and poor quality especially for the top end price charged. The soup had large lumps of fat and rind in rather than lardons, but was otherwise ok. The Gravlax dressing was very tart. The main was terrible. A small plate and it was hardly full. Small bits of turkey, one small bit of stuffing, one small pig in a blanket, no gravy as such, hardly any veg (4 tiny sprouts, 2 small chantenay carrots and 3 half roast potatoes). I know that top end restaurants often serve small portions but they should be well presented and of high quality but the standard of this meal was more comparable to school dinner. The parsnips were missing and when I asked for them I received a plate of half raw parsnips. Talking to other guests they had the same parsnip experience. The pudding was ok but small. It was not clear if coffee was included as it was not listed on the menu. We decided to leave straight away. As we left several other guests were complaining along similar lines to us. I gather from speaking to the manager that there had been some sort of problem in the kitchen. I know that mass catering is not easy but they seem to manage well other times judging by the good reviews. The front of house staff were doing their best and I do not blame them but it was all very poor. A real shame. The meal had been paid for in advance and my father was too polite to make a fuss."

We’ve been coming to Ravenwood every year for a while and we’ve loved it every time, particularly because of Sami. We look forward to seeing him each time and to get our annual selfie. Highly recommend going to try the amazing food (but mainly to meet Sami). Big thank you Sami!!!

I had a wonderful vegetarian afternoon tea experience at Ravenwood Hall. The sandwiches, warm savories, and scones with clotted cream and jam were all delicious. The pot of tea was lovely, with extra hot water provided by the attentive staff. The hotel is situated in beautiful grounds and exudes a charming old-world ambiance. I highly recommend it.

We had a wonderful meal at Ravenwood last night. The atmosphere is stunning and the food was delicious. I ordered the steak and it was cooked to perfection, while my wife had the panna cotta which she absolutely loved. The manager, Sami, was attentive, funny, and excellent at running the front of house. Kudos to the entire team for a job well done.

We visited Ravenwood Hall for afternoon tea to celebrate my grandma’s 80th birthday and we were warmly greeted and had excellent service throughout. A special shoutout to Sami for his attentive service and especially when I asked him to take a group photo of us! All round a lovely experience and we would 100% go back again to try some more food and sit in the lovely grounds! Thank you. Speisekarte ansehen

Had our regular family Christmas celebration at Ravenwood Hall last night, it was wonderful as always. The steak was very tasty and enjoyable. The beautiful building and the staff make the experience well above most places, especially Sami who is an absolute gem. He is by far the best front of house we have come across, very friendly and very funny. We will keep going back to see the legend that is Sami . Thank you for another wonderful evening Ravenwood, 5*

Lovely sweet staff but useless. Guinness barrel needed changing. We were sat for food. Ordered a bottle of wine and given no glasses. At which point we were the only people in either food or drinking area. Ordered food. Sorry we dont have that. Sorry we dont have any of that. All once we had sat and had time to choose. Given steaks with no steak knives. Lamb with no sauce. Which tasted like chargrill more than any type of meat. The chocolate fudge cake was a chocolate brownie.

It felt like stepping back in time when we entered the restaurant, with its hushed draperies, carpets, and armor on the walls. The formal tablecloths added to the old-world charm. Despite being the only diners, the atmosphere created by the decor was pleasant and cozy, a stark contrast to the trendy and echoey Scandinavian minimalism. The menu was limited and resembled that of a hotel restaurant, but everything we ordered was delicious. The service was friendly and helpful, and we had a wonderful evening overall. Christmas Day 2023. What a let down. Service was like Fawlty Towers, the staff (some of them) didn 't know what they were doing. I call it lack of training. Starter of leek and potato soup was luke warm accompanied by cheap pieces of baguette and no butter. Waited ages for the main which quite frankly was.... shocking. I have had better school dinners and I 'm talking over 50 years ago. My husband and I were so hungry by this time we even ate the raw sprouts. However, we decided enough was enough and left before the dessert arrived. The manager of the pavilion, when told why we were leaving simply said, that 's disappointing . Seriously the worst Christmas Dinner ever!!!!

If I could give this no blobs I would Our experience yesterday gave Fawlty Towers a run for its money. I didn't think the new owners could be worse than the previous but wrong again. I should have realised when we arrived at 1pm and there were only 2 other people in the restaurant. My Heritage tomatoes starter was one Tesco cheap tomato cut in 4 with core in a bowl of rocket. The toast with the Duck pate was so thin and stale that it crumbled into sawdust. Big side garnish of rocket. Fish platter accompanied by stale white baguette not ciabatta as on menu. Plenty of rocket on plate though. Roast beef was so tough couldn't cut even with a steak knife. They had run out of horseradish really on...

"Was excited to visit for the first time after seeing the award wins for best Mexican in the local news. Looking online the menu looked good so made a booking for 17:30 on a Thursday. On arrival we were seated quickly. The ambiance in the venue is very nice, with real lit candles on each table and twinkly lights up in the beams of the ceiling. I did need to move the candle to the side however as I couldn’t see my partner past it as it was in our eye line. The candle holder is also an old tequila bottle, which is a nice touch but takes a lot of space up on the table. On opening the menu, I noticed it was sticky. Which wasn’t the nicest. As the room is relatively dark I was unable to tell if this was old food or if they’d wiped the menu’s down, but it does make you a little wary. It took a while for the waitress assigned to our section to then come around to take our order. So we ordered drinks and our food at the same time. While waiting for the food to arrive my partner who has type one diabetes was trying to access the internet to look up carb info, unfortunately we noticed that we couldn’t get any signal so asked for the Wi-Fi code. We were brought around the password from the actual Wi-Fi router which contained password but it has been badly scratched so we couldn’t get it to work. Only a small thing to note should you need access to the internet at all during your visit. When the starters arrived I had the taquitos, pork. I have a gluten allergy and stipulated this when ordering but when the starters were brought out there was no indication on the plating that it was gluten free or any second mentioning from the waiting staff. Nether the less, they looked like corn being a yellow colour so proceeded to eat them, and I have to say they were delicious and I would have happily had a new more as a main course. The calamari my partner described as “umm, good, tasty”. Not long after we finished our starters the mains were brought out. I’m my opinion there wasn’t a big enough gap between the starter and the main. As soon as one plate was cleared, the next arrived. My partner ordered the prawn burrito and described it burrito as “Far too big, Far too cheesy, the prawns lacked something. Because it was so cheesy it was quite fatty and greasy and needed something to cut through it all.” He only ate half of it and on clearing the plates away we were offered to take it home but we declined, we made a point on the large portion and the waiter said “yeah, we feed a lot of Americans here”. My dads American and he wouldn’t have eaten the whole burrito. I ordered the chicken and steak fajitas. The steak was cooked nicely but I found it quite tough. The chicken was over cooked and a little dry. However again the portion size was huge and I was unable to eat it all. There was also not enough room on the table for all of the bits, so I had to rest the foiled wraps on my leg. Again I ordered a gluten free option but there was no mention of this when it arrived and this time the wraps were a lighter whiter colour, which caused me concern. In the end I didn’t eat the wraps because they were the same colour as the burrito wrap and as no indication they were gluten free it caused me some anxiety. Getting attention if the waiting staff to double check was difficult so I just left them to the side and ate the meat veg on their own. The couple wraps I did eat I have to say we’re not the nicest. They were quite tough and at the same time tasted undercooked, like there was some raw taste to them. I wouldn’t order it again. Drink wise I ordered the pina colada and again probably wouldn’t order it again. Though there was nothing overly wrong with it, I’ve just had better. Overall, it was just over £60 for two starters, two mains and two alcoholic drinks. I don’t think that’s particularly bad value given the absolute huge portion sizes. It might be worth Amigos offering a small medium large option at different price points so those who don’t want giant burritos fajitas can get the smaller options at a lower value. Amigos might also end up taking more as there was no chance we’d have been able to eat a desert, however if the main had been more appropriately portioned then we likely would have had one. However, in terms of the allergens. It’s great that they offer gluten free alternatives, however please introduce a GF sticker for the plates or get waiting staff to say “Gluten free Fajitas” when serving. It just helps to eliminate any fear that there may have been a mistake in the kitchen and helps diners with allergies to relax and feel more comfortable. As things stand. We wouldn’t return for what we had above. However, there was a good atmosphere in there and I’d possibly return as a place to have a few drinks and share some nachos, just not for a sit down meal."
