"when we were shown above to go table, we were pleased that we were in a disguised room with some tables; it seemed that we could have a peaceful evening and so it remained until six diners closed at the last table. the noise they made was amazing. the six drowned the quiet talks around us. the six cried to be heard from their companions who also cried. there were more noises from this table than coming from a big party down. I cannot recommend drapers hall to a friend; the friend could meet similar bad behaviors."

loved the smoked salmon open sandwich, and the mushroom soup was fresh and full of flavour.

I had done a morning's work in Shrewsbury and was planning to get a sandwich at the station buffet (yawn) as I waited for the train home, when I was tempted

Wholly disappointing. Food was lovely but incredibly slow service meant there was far too much time between each course. We were forgotten about when we came in, and had to ask to see menus, plus I was given the wrong bill, twice. Really not impressed.

we had a very pleasant lunch. the restaurant is a beautiful mix of old and new. we had a seat at the log burner that was very cozy. the service was great, the staff was friendly and helpful. our meals were excellent, good ingredients and we really enjoyed our lunch.

Arrived for 1:45pm Sunday lunch, the restaurant 30% occupied. No heating, except for a gas fire (on a cold winter's day) advised it had failed! No attempt to make the place warmer by closing a door. Food was acceptable but nothing special. Wine very overpriced. We frequent restaurants 5 -6 times per month, suffice to say I would definitely not recommend. Speisekarte ansehen

Second time to Drapers Hall for food and we were prepared for the food to be not quite as good as the first time which was truly excellent however, the food was again absolutely amazing. We had the taster menu and each and every course was totally delicious. The service we received from all the staff was second to none. We will be going back for a third visit very soon.

nice Sunday dinner for 3 people, thank you. eating was always excellent in the market room and I am glad to say that nothing has changed. the setting of drapers is beautiful and the service is there for what the evening restaurant looks. the lunch menu can be one of two more expensive than in its previous form, but now they have tables where buyers do not pass to get to the metzgern, I don't want to pay. we look forward to seeing you again.

"Beautifull hotel, I guess one can call it trendy , but I just don 't understand how they can justify the price £130/night and that most of the time will go to £160 as they run out of entry level ones. So I guess the answer is there because people pay for it! But let 's just make some relevant comparisons Birmingham Grand literally in the heart of the city, brand new, 5* hotel, with all recently decorated rooms to the highest standard is £135 15 for breakfast. Needless to say rooms are air conditioned, fully equipped and genuinelly very posh. Hotel has lifts, has porters and the service is top notch. The Lion is barelly 4* just for trendiness alone, but the actual quality of furnishing is closer to 3*, has no lift and you will be lugging your bags up and down mutiple flights of stairs (and I mean multiple like 8 going up and down) trought narrow corridors to mediocre room (nothing wrong with it just mediocre) which isn 't even air conditioned. Sorry, I just don 't get it. That said restaurant is good fully fine dining if you are into it. Althought in my oppinion it doesn 't fit into the rest of the hotel. So it is ~3.5* hotel which is very youghtfull and trendy and then you get 5* fine dining with very tiny portions for the dinner (which is not criticism of restaurant, it is very good on it 's own). In conclussion I just don 't get what niche this hotel is filling, who stays there and why. The price for the rooms should be £75 95 tops. Shreesbury is not exactly prime tourists destination either (at least shouldn 't). But it seems it is working out for them, I just would not recommend it, I would not stay in it again and it is definatelly not worth the price. Neither in isolation, nor in comparison."
