"This tapas bar functioned for years as El Cisne de Oro at a very small location on calle del Teatro, but it recently moved to a bigger location almost across the street and renamed itself El Mesoncito de Oro. It's the same owner, chef and menu the main difference is that it seats more people and is more comfortable. My favorites are verbena de verduras (a platter of grilled vegetables including two types of mushrooms, aubergine, zucchini, asparagus and onion), patatas bravas (potatoes in hot tomato sauce with aioli), croquetas de jamon, pescado frito (fried fish) and dates wrapped in bacon. There are many other things, including pinchos morunos (grilled meat skewers), chopitos (fried baby squid), calamares a la romana (calamari), and miniature sandwiches with meat, cheese, ham, and whatever you want. If you are hard core into tapas, you can try the callos (stomach) and sesos (brains), but there are plenty of other choices if you are not as adventurous. You can eat as much or as little as you want there is no pressure to spend a certain amount. It is not uncommon for spaniards to have a beer and a small plate or two for a few euros; you can also make it a meal, as there is enough variety (two people can have a full meal for about 40 50 euros including drinks). I've been there both for lunch and dinner, and the menu is the same."
