"A very charming English Pub/Restaurant set in the centre of Claypole Village High Street with on and off street parking Child friendly rear garden play area that in the summer boasts a pizza oven that also has Big Bertha A Big BBQ Oven . The Bells regulars enjoy Real Ale rotated drinks menu and ciders and of course your lagers, for the lady you have a vast selection of gins on offer this really is a place for the connoisseur . On today's visit I enjoyed real ale complimenting my burger meal with fries and salad that was heavenly, so much so that I was disappointed I had no room one of the Bells legendary deserts ! Yes yes you mat say but was the staff friendly and the service prompt ... completely, very happy and will return more often."

Absolutely great x the greatest range of food I've ever seen in a pub, ranging from classics like steak and roasts to ramen bowls and corn ribs! The staff were absolutely lovely too.

We were attending a wedding in the next village. The room was spacious, comfortable and clean. The breakfast was the tastiest breakfast and best I’d had in a long time. Highly recommend this establishment.

My partner and I spent one night at The Five Bells and enjoyed a delightful dinner and breakfast. The pub is very welcoming and the food was delicious! Everything was homemade and there was a great selection to choose from. We highly recommend dining here, it's a hidden gem!

We have been visiting the Five Bells for over 13 years, but on this occasion decided to book one of their rooms for the night for our anniversary. Accommodation and breakfast was wonderful, and food never ever disappoints. The service from the waiting staff was efficient and they were very polite. A lovely stay, Thank you!

We pop in here for lunch every once in a while and the food is genially quite nice, my favourite is the fish finger sandwich, service on the other hand is brusk and a few times just not at all welcoming, particularly at the bar. As the industry tries to get back on an even keel it more important than ever to just be a welcoming face

I stumbled upon this pub by chance and it was quite an experience. Despite being in a small village, the restaurant was exceptional in terms of quality and had a very interesting menu. They offered dry aged steaks aged for 21 days, 30 days, 45 days, and even 80 days, all done on-site. The menu was very diverse and the prices were reasonable. Definitely worth a visit.

It had been some time since my last visit, so I decided to return with my family. The food was outstanding and the service was excellent. We had a great evening overall. The Burnt ends and Squid starters were delicious. For my main course, I ordered the Pan Fried Tiger Prawns with Calamari Nduja, which was served on a crispy garlic flatbread with a side of salad and chips. It was fantastic. I was too full for dessert, but my daughter tried the Yorkshire Pudding with ice cream and caramel sauce, which she really enjoyed. I am looking forward to my next visit and would recommend this restaurant to anyone.

"The Stag Inn is a delightful looking pub overlooking the small green in the village of Barkston near Grantham. Internally the pub is clean and tidy with a range of two and four seater tables with New England shades of light blue on the painted table legs in the restaurant area. We didn’t venture into the pub side so can’t vouch for the decor in there. We arrived unannounced just after opening time of 12 and were offered a table with no difficulty. There was a menu of the usual offerings of fish and chips and a range of burgers together with roast salmon, chargrilled pork chop, a leek and cauliflower cheese pot pie, ham egg and chips and a vegetable lasagne amongst others. A specials chalkboard hung on the far wall and the crab and prawn salad with Mediterranean bread sounded so good we both opted for it. That was a mistake as we were to find out. The meals were reasonably quick to arrive and were served up in two large bowls with a dusting of paprika round the edges. What hit me immediately was the large flaccid green lettuce leaf draped over the edge of the bowl, together with a whole half-a-lemon that we each had. A small wedge would be perfect. The bread tasted sweet and was as far from the Mediterranean as it could possibly be apart from the occasional input of sundried tomato. What irked me most though was that the bread was delivered up pre-buttered with what looked like some bright yellow catering spread. A small ramakin of real butter between the two of us would work so much better. When asked if everything was okay I mentioned this and was told that chef would be informed. Having said all that the crab and prawn salad was full of flavour and sat on a nice mixed salad of red peppers, lettuce, red onion and cornichons. A word of advice to the wise….. don’t sit at the table near the restaurant counter as this is where the pub’s phone is located. On at least two occasions the phone was left to ring unanswered by the staff, presumably as they were busy elsewhere (the pub was by no means full) and was right behind my head! The volume of the ringer was high and it would have been a more pleasant experience for us if, firstly, it was answered and, secondly, the volume was turned down. On the plus side the staff were polite and helpful but the food not so great."
