"Wonderfully welcoming and superb coffee. Run by a husband and wife this is quite simply the best cafe within the area. It’s so good we always make a point of taking a detour off the A1 to stop here. We are always made to feel welcome. The coffee is superb, easily on par with the best cafes in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Newcastle. The food is extremely high quality, superb breakfast, home made cakes everything is local, fresh and generous portions (my tip ask for the sausage in a roll). During the winter there is an open fire in the back which just adds to the already welcoming atmosphere."

"we came to eyemouth for the signposted harbour and a fast bad break on the way from edinburgh to england, but found this beautiful little caffe to the breakfast after checkout of the boats and a surprising seal on the rocks! this place gave an overall pleasant mood to finish our short stay there. we both had a Scottish breakfast and tees, I enjoyed the potato and haggis above all. the brot was also really good. the caffe was very clean (it is also strictly wearing on mask, what we like to see) the personal is also very beautiful. make sure they arrived at their breakfast there before 11 o'clock, as it was quite busy when we first passed it on the way to the harbour, but I am glad we were going back. make sure that dogs are not allowed inside, but there are a few tables outside when they want to take them. we thought it was strange that the caffe did not advertise itself as "the last Scottish breakfast in the countryside", as we saw nothing else after that and we would definitely come back when we travel this stretch again!"

"All the fish dishes are fantastic as well, since they source their fish fresh from a local supplier next to the harbor, ensuring the utmost freshness. I would recommend the seafood pasta, which features a selection of the day’s catch. I had the bream, which was perfectly cooked with crispy skin, alongside a delicious prawn and large shrimp. They also offer a wonderful selection of cocktails and mocktails!"

"Absolutely abysmal experience. Creaky floorboards and a narrow gloomy staircase leading up to the restaurant. Not to mention the fact that the crappers were right beside the dine in area so the stench of logs was pungent throughout the whole joint, completely ruining the entire atmosphere. Come the drinks, My vodka n' Coke had about 2ml of vodka in it. At first I didn't even think they'd added any in, genuinly just absurdly shocking amounts of vodka being added in. Next, the food, we'd ordered 3 plates which took 53 MINUTES TO ARRIVE and in that time we'd witnessed 5 other tables of people arrive AND recieve their food before us. My eventual steak was cooked medium well even though id asked for RARE!!! which i think was done to hide the fact that it was both frozen and showed signs of rotting as it tasted like meat flavoured sand paper. The caustic meat had riddled me with severe food poisoning which then lead to crohns disease. What I had to accommodate my rotting cow arse was half a bag of brids eye frozen peas dumped on the side coming straight from the microwave with a pool of defrosted ice to go underneath it, 4 frozen garlic mushrooms, 2 half decent onion rings and just to rub salt in the wound, 2 mouldy rings. The chips were okay but all in all, come to Contented Sole if you want to test your immune system against corrosive decomposing food"

"Chris , Owen and I enjoyed ourselves with lovely meals too . Chris had your specialty Mussels , I had Deep Fried Camamber Cheese , Cranberry jelly with Salad , Owen had Garlic bread . The mains were just as good Chris had Surf and Turf with their home made chips , Owen had Cheese Burger Bun, I had New Inn Chicken . Desserts Ofcourse : Chris and Owen had Ice Cream Sundaes and I had Raspberry Sparkle Cheesecake . Thoroughly enjoyed our evening"
