"The venue is located at Mount Gerald. Now, I wouldn't mount Gerald if he was glazed in honey, but would go back for the vegan fish and chips or, indeed, many of the other enticing items on the menu and the friendly and very efficient service. The value for money out competes many like for like venues and the quality and innovation is exemplary; who can imagine giving tofu a fishlike and flavourful consistency and then wrapping it in outstandingly crispy beer batter. Then there is the artisan gift shop and fine art prints. And the view is breaktaking, sitting high above the Cromarty Firth, just east of Cromarty Bridge, with views towards Dingwall and Conon Bridge, and the mountains beyond Fairburn, Faebait and Aultvaich filling the horizon. All in all, a wonderful experience that I hope to enjoy many times in the future."

Found this on Google as we passed nearby on the A9. Just a couple of minutes off the route. Very bright and welcoming. Perfect for a break with lovely cakes and coffee.

Terrible service, when the food arrived which was ordered it was cold. On informing staff member about the problems encountered with the food, the attitude was one of could not care less.....

Stopped off for lunch on way home after camper van trip to Brora. Menu large and varied, had special of pulled pork which was lovely and partner had salad Nicoise which looked good. Cake selection looked good too. Added bonus cafe is dog friendly

Far too expensive for what you got. I couldn’t believe I was charged £32 for two breakfasts and a tea coffee. Tea and coffee should be included in a breakfast and normally are in Scotland! Consider lowering your price for breakfast too, £12.95 for a small breakfast! Unreal, will not be back!

We called here yesterday for a quick lunch with my two year old grandson. We had wonderfully tasty soup and sandwiches and he enjoyed his sausages and chips. This is a super place, very friendly and efficient staff, a view, a lovely tractor play slide and there are even car charging points. Highly recommend.

Visited here a couple of weeks ago with family including young children. The play area was a bonus and kept children entertained while we enjoyed coffee and cake. We sat outside as we had dogs with us. The views were great. Staff polite and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. Will definitely go here again and would highly recommend a visit.

We had completed the NC500, and on our last leg of the journey, thought we’d stop here after Googling it and saw they had a marquee specifically where you could go on and eat with your dog, we got there and were told they don’t allow dogs and would have to sit outside, now really do I want to eat outside where my food would go cold within minutes and where in 2013 does not allow dogs in, I think you really need to update your details on the website to say you do not allow dogs, nor do you have a marquee

I've visited the Highland cafe on 3 occasions in the last 7 months. The first couple of times the food was great and arrived quickly. I'd been recommending as a result. Today, however, 40 minutes after ordering lunch and coffees we had nothing. We asked our waitress where our drinks were, she went to ask but never updated. 10 minutes later we queried our food order too as people who had arrived long after us had food drink. No apology, but waitress said she'd check. Again, no feedback. A few minutes later, very hungry and thirsty we decided to go elsewhere. I can understand that it was busy but the staff were in no way apologetic or helpful. Had they been, we would have waited a little longe...

"Glorified Public School Dinner food hiding behind a beautiful scenic dining area. Server wasn 't too bothered about their job, kinda like it doesn 't matter what food they did and didn 't have in that day. Seemed very excited when leaving the table to tend an empty bar. Didn 't ask once if food was okay, if they had I 'd of mentioned the myriad of wrongs occurring upon the three plates in front of us. Ordered from evening menu, beef burger, chicken burger and garlic bread. The former two came with undercooked chips (as if the fryer was just turned on for our meal), pale onion rings, two dimensional tomato slices (two of per burger), two measly leafs of lettuce and no house sauce of any kind. I 've had tastier PVA glue than the coleslaw. My partners chips were akin to hash browns but undercooked. The beef burger had one thing going for it, there was Infact beef on it. The chicken burger my partner had was tasteless and fell apart. Garlic bread appeared to be some kind of muffin or cinnamon swirl that was re purpoused for our order. Aside it was a teeny tiny salad, which actually contained a highlight from my experience: red onion that actually tasted of onion/unlike the onion dense coleslaw. All in all, me and my partner left feeling like our local kebab shop would have left us more impressed. As we were leaving the server told us she didn 't mind that there was some issues with the card reader as it 'filled her time as she has nothing else to do '. It should be noted they were wearing their outside clothes and served us with the jacket on. Chef was seen at bar after meal, standing not doing much. The main concern for the staff appeared to be; what music was being played as they skipped through the world 's most disorganised playlist (no, no one wants to listen to loch lomond while they are eating). Speaking as a working chef, I feel my wife could cook a better meal with half the ingredients and equipment than this 'professional ' kitchen can. The opertunity to do better is overwhelming, however it will take a long time before you convince me to enter with an empty stomach again. Wheelchair accessibility: It 's not friendly for those that are handicapped in any way. Steep narrow stairs and difficult to navigate room space."
