"Treated POORLY. I think that’s ultimate issue I have with the visit, the food was okay, typical style buffet, all you can eat, a nice variety of food but customer service was abysmal! I was celebrating my 23rd birthday with family and some friends but really was let down in how was treated by staff. I felt no one there who worked there cared it appeared no one served with any sort of smile and the was a lot of unnecessary bureaucracy by the staff. For example a bit of bureaucracy was when my sister and her boyfriend was about £10 short and wanted to pay the rest of the bill through card payment method and bare in mind they do accept card and cash but the person who was in-charge of front of desk refused to accept this and effectively had to use some of my own cash to pay for the entry even before sat down to eat. It comes across as unnecessary and complicated. Other establishments I’ve been to allow this if you want to split the payment 50% cash or 50% card. They allow it. So I don’t see why the person who was front of desk needed to take issue with this. So that’s not a good start. Then when we lit the candles and the sparkler after we done the celebration bit and put them out as they/you do, after this was approached not once but twice by members of staff. I would consider candles or sparklers on a cake rather normal, I’ve been to other places in the past and not a problem but for whatever reason these two members of staff took issue with it and after the fact it was done and dusted and past issue. It just uncalled for and unnecessary and rude. I am trying to enjoy my birthday, enjoy my time out with loved ones, family and friends, yet these staff appeared to want to butt the heads in and try to ruin it, to ruin our time. I have made a formal complaint over it online through the complaint system they operate and who knows what the outcome of this will be but way I look at it’s £25 a head and I think one can reasonably expect paying that price to be treated with courtesy and respect and maybe even a warmer greeting and smile! It really wouldn’t go without a miss. Our group last night would’ve at least minimum contributed £222.80p to the restaurant in total and what did we get? Poor below par abysmal customer care and service. Really disappointed. And the food was okay as I said, some dishes was nice, some weren’t as nice, the fresh grill is a feature I do like and enjoy but ultimately when it was ruined some what by staff unnecessarily picking or not serving with a smile or being bureaucratic over how people pay then ultimately it lets it down. Plus also our special requests to have cake stored in fridge just seems like it’s a let down. But it is what it is, I can only share my thoughts and feedback."

I wouldn’t recommend this fish market type so called restaurant. Toilet is too stinky and you will feel like to throw. A big NO for this kinda creepy restaurant. Also there are thousands way to know about global foods but if eat those foods here in this restaurant you will all the respect you have about any food. Awful cooking and disgusting taste.

Overall the food was nice and loads to offer average but all the food is clean and there is people on every different cuisine area However the toilets are horrendous. Plenty of parking outside can be limited as it is situated in a retail park but all parking is free. They also have bubble tea stand but you do have to pay extra. Overall great for a casual lunch with the kids

I have been to JRC for years and it is brilliant. The amount of variety you get for the money you pay is definitely worth it. The mains are good quality and plenty of choice, I will admit the desserts are definitely the weak part even though there are quite a few options they are not the best quality but overall the cost is a bargain for the money you pay. Highly recommend.

We visited without a reservation because we had missed our timeslot. The waiting time was estimated at 30 minutes yet we had waited up to 1 hour for us to be admitted. Upon arrival, they give you an entry ticket to use at the gate. We had a windowsill seat. No plugs. The buffet area had a selfserve kitchen, continental booths for specific food, and a drinks table. The toilets were badly maintained, with toilet tissue on the floor and seat, water and other fluids on the floor. The sinks parallel to the drinks table were clean. The layout of the tables cause people to shuffle past chairs, sometimes causing gridlocking. We had stayed for an hour, and were pretty satisfied with the food.

I WILL NEVER EVER EVER GO BACK TO THIS PLACE. Used to be a very good place before it changed its name to JRC, food is horrible, very very poor quality of food. It’s not what is “ variety” horrible test-less food. If it’s not too much salt then no salt at all. It’s cold food. And as if that wasn’t enough, plastic glasses as if it’s we are in a school dinner hall. Please people reading this, do not go to this place. Am actually very annoyed. As I bite into this beef in black source …. It was so chewy and when getting to terms with it being chewy, I bite into a stone. As if that’s not enough drinks are diluted. Honestly For the seating arrangements, you are packed… thanks God no more covid. No...

I booked 1 month prior to my arrival. At the time i had up to 15 confired persons and 2 unconfirmed, the person on the phone said i can make the bookings for the confirmation persons and i could change that number at anytime. When we get to the location we explained that 2 persons has Covid and 1 couldn't make it so we will only have 12 person but at the time only 8 was on location the other 4 people were on their way, the short man at the door was so rude and saying we have to have 15 persons to go in. The matter was resolved by another worker. The meals was a nice variety, food was delicious and the dessert was on point. You are able to get bottomless for £3.50 per person and £25 per adult...

"I hadn't been here since my mother brought me as a teenager in 1965, when it was the Chalet Suisse. We were welcomed by a waitress seeing us coming and opening the door for us, ushered to a table by the window. We both had a fish dish, myself a crab-stuffed fillet of plaice, my wife a seabass paella with mussels. My plaice was succulently fresh, with a subtly spiced filling and sauce, The new potatoes were perfect. My wife is from a fishing family in Brittany so really knows her fish, and her saffron paella met with unconditional approval. The buckshee bread chunks in a basket already on the table were left, so I could enjoy mopping up the last of the lovely flavour of the juice. After polishing off the little extra pot of sweet potato fries, for dessert we had a special, Eton Mess, and banana cream profiteroles, which we swapped half way through, just gorgeous, and a filter coffee to finish off. With a couple of beers all for a fraction over £50 this was extraordinary value. This was no ordinary pub-chain grub. Every dish had something unusual and special to commend it, whether the spicy crab or the tart passionfruit syrup setting off the usually overwhelmingly sweet Eton Mess. This was proper cooking by someone who really knows their stuff, nicely presented but without fuss. Our fellow diners were all friendly and accomodating in a fairly small space, some engaging in jolly conversation with us. The service was attentive, kind. and unobtrusive. There was music but not overly loud and the atmosphere was relaxed and unhurried. I've heard this place mentioned by others before over the years and very much wish we'd made the effort to visit before now, our wedding anniversary. We will go again for sure, and take others with us too!"

"This is a small, very nice, non-chain coffee shop selling tea, coffee, some savoury sandwiches plus snacks and cakes. (Not to be confused with 'Smoothbean ' which is also in Croydon and also very good, but the two have no connection.)What 's good about it? It 's non-chain, so you 're actually dealing with nice people offering good service, not just wage slaves at the front end of a vast, impersonal corporation. The quality of the tea and coffee is as good as anywhere else. The service is warm, human, friendly and personal. The staff are efficient and helpul but also pleasantly informal. They don 't have a very wide selection of things to eat. However, what they DO have is all very nice and good value, whether you want savoury and healthy or sweet and indulgent. I loved the little 'bakesmiths ' cakes they sell that say 'made by hand in small batches ' on the label. What 's maybe not so good? Well, it 's not in what you 'd call a great location. Plus it 's really small. Upstairs (at street level) there are just two small tables and space for maybe five or six people at most (assuming some don 't mind sitting at the window). Downstairs, there are a chairs and sofas providing room for about eight people, although it 's a bit cramped. All in all, the think to love about Crushed Bean is the tone, the atmosphere, the fact that it 's small, friendly and informal and run by human beings rather than branded corporate drones intent on hitting targets. Go there at a not-too-busy time and you can enjoy a little bit of peace and quiet and know that you 're choosing to support a small, independent coffee shop and not one of the behemoth chains. Bonus good point #1: if you ask for your milk on the side, it comes in a miniature milk bottle. This cute touch should be standard practice but isn 't.Bonus good point #2: They offered me a free tea refill. Nowhere else that I 've been to does this.Bonus good point #3: They are right opposite Cake Box, a wonderful emporium of gloriously unhealthy options."
