The location is beautiful and it's not too crowdy. The service is reactive and the dishes ar good but not really copious. It's a lunch place above the average in San Fruttuoso. I recommend.

beautiful sea view location, in the small beach of San fruttuoso. fresh fish, to cook with a little more acuteness (too much oil, garlic and white wine, especially in mussels and clams,) but always remains my favorite place.

This is a very nice place on the beach. Booking is essential. Fish is very fresh and very well cooked. We had a mix of very fresh raw fishes and prawns and delicious spaghetti with seafood. Staff is very friendly and attentive, in particular Elvis managing the tables on the terrace. He is a real plus of the place.

We arrived at this restaurant because we couldn’t find availability at Giorgio and Giovanni. Both spots we know well and like. Came to Cantina some years ago and recall not having good food. But now we’ve been amazingly surprised. Lovely people and perfect service. Super amazing food. Great overall experience. Next time this will be our first choice!

We walked from Portofino instead of taking a ferry so this was a very welcome surprise after 2 hours plus of strenuous walking. We initially just wanted coffee but were so captivated by the setting that we stayed and ate lunch which was superb. Great calamari followed by a beautifully, simply grilled fish, complete with a lovely Italian wine. This restaurant was featured on the film A Trip to Italy .

I have read the recent Italian reviews of this fabulously situated restaurant and they are right that it is very expensive for the area and the staff do give the impression they could not care less about, a. Welcoming guests or b. Turning over tables quickly in what is a beautiful and very busy spot. However, our lunch was really very good the house trofie al pesto is a model of how to do what is a tricky dish (often teeth coating) and the fried squid was exceptionally tender. People get tired … hard to explain or guess what is going on here

We were lured to La Cantina having seen it on The Trip Italy and were not disappointed. Our waiter, Elvis, was very welcoming and looked after us well. It is nestled into a tiny cove and is partially situated on the sand. We had our best food here in our two week trip through Italy which is saying something! The grilled baby octopus, seafood pasta and the pesto with gnocchi were all delicious. The location is pretty unique too. We arrived by boat which was easy (thanks to a water taxi), I am not sure how you would get to it by land. Finally it was pretty good value, which in this area is rare!

This restaurant is a great example of why you don 't need a big menu to order from: everything that arrived was beautifully presented, fresh produce and full of flavours. We were also well looked after by friendly staff. I notice one or two reviews here differ on this point, which I cannot explain, except to say that our experience was good, and that this is September 2019. We enjoyed a lovely lunch at La Cantina and an afternoon on the beach here, which is on its own tiny cove a few minutes ' walk from San Fruttuoso itself. this restaurant to say little fascinating: is located on the sea, a few tens of meters from the Abbey of St fruitful and visible between the cliffs to the right of the tower of the gi doria that arrives with the boat. the tables are scattered between the path, the beach of a small bay and the intimate veranda overlooking the sea.
