The dishes and desserts were very good, however the starters were clearly behind. Service a little long but careful. Price a little high but Sothys obliges I imagine!!! Fortunately the meal entitles you to a reduction for the visit to the gardens, fortunately…

The restaurant is part of the garden complex. The gardens themselves are well worth a visit either before or after the meal. We sat on the terrace on a wonderful day overlooking the small lake and in a very peaceful setting. The restaurant does not seat many and we were lucky to turn up to visit the gardens and manage to reserve the last free table for the lunch service. We had a varied range of meals. My wife had the three course menu du jour a charcuterie followed by beef and apple tart. My daughter had the menu enfant which was an excellent chicken wing with linguine and tomato sauce. My wife and I took a friend for her 80th birthday treat; and we couldn't have picked a better place for a special meal. We all had Kir Royal aperitif, followed by the Plat du Jour which was great value for money. We were given a little plate of savoury tarts whilst we waited for the meal. We started with a delicious home-made mushroom soup and fresh bread rolls. Then chicken breast en croute lovely herby breadcrumby crust) with fluffy rice and a tangy wseet and sour sauce not too sweet) and it was excellent.
