My wife and I enjoyed dinner here very much. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. Service was friendly. We would definitely return.

Superb We wanted wonderful food for our Anniversary dinner. We were treated to an amazing meal, wonderful thoughtful service and a memory that will last.

Excellent well worth visiting. Just 50 m outside the main tourist area. Social distancing well respected compared to certain restaurants in the centre which offer outside eating areas! Speisekarte ansehen

Booked a reservation for a Thursday at 7pm. We went there and the restaurant was not open. The door was locked but there appeared to be someone in the restaurant. We knocked on the door. It was not open. We waited until 7:15 and then went elsewhere. Don't trust your booking with The Fork.

Excellent lunch at L’Essentiel as we drove back through France on our way home from the Alps. The set menu for lunch was amazing value and very delicious indeed delicious wine and very hospitable service. We were 11 people and were lucky enough to be able to book with short notice. We will be back thank you so much!

The restaurant is comfortable and relaxed, the service is very professional, the staff are friendly and knowledgeable about the menu (I have a dietary restriction), and the food is delicious and plentiful. Safe for Celiacs who require Gluten Free Sans Gluten. Do tell them about your food restrictions when you make your reservation. I had no issues dining here. Speisekarte ansehen

In a city where the restaurants can be overpriced and very ho-hum, trading on a stale tradition of French bistrot food, L'Essentiel was a breath of fresh air. The restaurant had a simple modern decor, unpretentious wine list and a menu that included wasabi cream, eggs with epoisse cheese, ham with parsley jelly and a cassis sauce, cassis sorbet with rose meringue and a caramel creme brûlée. Great value and very interesting menu.

Visited with French friends and stopped here for lunch. Medium size menu with great options, lunch combo was app, main, and dessert/cheese for 33€, with plenty of bread, and we ordered a bottle of wine. Escargot appetizer was delicious, no shells and mixed in a wonderful sauce. Other app was poached egg with époisses (cheese sauce) which was rich and lovely. For mains we got chicken époisses and cod with squash purée, both lovely. Dessert we got a cheese plate and a chocolate cake, all was lovely. Would come here again!

We booked for 7:30 pm on a Wednesday evening in August and were the only diners for a while but by 8:00 pm the there was a good crowd and a pleasant atmosphere. The waitress was friendly and very efficient considering the number of tables she had to cover alone. we were never ignored. We decided on the traditional menu at €26 which effectively provided a free dessert or cheese compared to the same dishes taken from the a la carte menu. Everything we had was very well cooked and presented on some interestingly designed plates. My steak was perfectly cooked medium rare. My wife’s cod had a tasty turmeric and wine sauce.
