We dined here our last night in Ettal as a convenience after five days of day tripping in the area. It did not disappoint. Great setting and great food.

First time here, we were pleasantly surprised about the beautiful setting especially in the Braeustuebli, but also a little disappointed by the quality and the taste of the food. It felt too much like a lunch place for the masses. Again, by high Bavarian standards ... Speisekarte ansehen

One of a couple of places to eat in Ettal, this is a large and popular restaurant. Large outdoor seating area that we managed to grab a table as another family left. Service a bit slow but pleasant enough. Food excellent I ordered roast pork and was presented with a massive pile of succulent meat. Other dishes equally good. A good option if in the area.

Wir haben in diesem Restaurant zu Abend gegessen, während wir im Hotel waren. Das Essen ist köstlich! Jemand aus unserer Gruppe bestellte das Schnitzel, das sehr gut war. Die Pilzsoße war ausgezeichnet! Wir hatten auch den Käse- und Brot-Vorspeiseteller, der merkwürdigerweise nach unseren Hauptgerichten ankam. Die Hauptgerichte waren ausgezeichnet, die Vorspeise war nur in Ordnung.

I arrived here at 3pm and wanted to drink a beer, despite being busy there was an entire section of tables that were empty. I was told that these tables were closed. When I asked a very abrupt waiter where I should sit on several occasions he finally suggested the restaurant. I tried it was full. Finally I found a space in their beer hall. Only to discover that they were not serving their specialist beer which I had come for. I left Speisekarte ansehen

This hotel/restaurant seems to be the biggest in Ettal, so we were skeptical. But of the food and service we had in Ettal, it was the best. The hostess/server was funny and very inviting. The meals were good, I surprisingly enjoyed the salads and dressings. The klosterspaetzle was very good and the wine servings quite generous. There was a huge thunderstorm that happened while we were in the garden, but they accommodated everyone who was sheparded inside. We recommend.

Wir haben an unserem ersten Abend in Ettal hier gegessen. Es gab viele Tische draußen, aber in der Nähe fand gerade ein Motorradrennen statt und alle Tische draußen waren besetzt, als wir ankamen, also haben wir drinnen einen Tisch genommen. Sie hatten spezielle hausgemachte Burger auf der Speisekarte, also haben ein paar von uns diese bestellt und sie waren ausgezeichnet. So groß, dass einer zwischen zwei gereicht hätte. Ein weiterer bekannter Burger (ein Big) hätte winzig ausgesehen neben den Monstern, die wir erhalten haben. Der Preis für unser großes und kleines Bier und die Burger? 30,00 € ein Schnäppchen. Sehr zu empfehlen.

We selected as own table as no one was around to guide us. Next thing we knew, we were being ushered to the other end of the table because we had to share with others. No problem, but awkward when there’s pleasantries due to OUR lack of German. My trout was good but swimming in butter, as were the boiled potatoes. Didn’t stop me eating it all though diet be damned! Ettaler light beer was excellent in our opinion better than the Hofbrauhof original we’d had the day before in Munich. My partner had gnocchi and salad which as also good. I was not impressed though when I showed my credit card to pay. I was curtly told cash only. I did not know this before we sat down to eat or I’d have gone else... Speisekarte ansehen
