"Lovely pub with a great choice of food although quite a few items were not available that evening. Our drinks order was taken within good time but then we waited such a long time for them we were definitely more than ready to order food and gave our order to him. Our waitress was wonderful and really pleasant but had a lot of tables to serve so not as attentive as expected. I have to say the lamb shank was delicious, so very tender and the gravy and mash perfect...would visit again just for this meal! Husband and son's steaks were sightly overdone to how they wanted them so consider that if you order steaks. Puddings were delicious but again not everything on menu available even though we booked an early table. All the food was well presented. Overall, an enjoyable evening meal."

Food was okay for the price. They had some good lunch time deals. Staff were very welcoming and friendly.

Great pub and eating house. Very nicely decked out inside. Great food. We had lunch and the sharing plate on the menu. It has a great garden and a small covered area for eating. Very chilled.

Attended a family birthday where I can only say the staff were fantastic, special mention to Sarah. She was brilliant. Everyone had a great meal, food was excellent. Will definitely be going back! Proper Irish hospitality. See you soon

We dropped in on the off chance and they found us a table. So glad they did, the food was delicious. We had the pate starter, scampi and chicken and chorizo flat bread. The lady who served us was so lovely but I can't remember her name, Julie or Tracey (sorry) Speisekarte ansehen

Took my friends from Warwickshire here and they really enjoyed it. So went back with my hubby for a roast dinner Sunday and it was absolutely gorgeous. Food is really good quality and lovely atmosphere. Had a really good waitress too and I didn’t have to keep asking for attention. Makes a nice change.

I had an incredible experience at this restaurant! The food was delicious and the service was even better. I can't find any faults; they consistently deliver outstanding quality. I highly recommend it for a lovely family meal. The service was fantastic—Kenan went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect. Well done, Old Irish Harp!

I had a terrible experience at this restaurant. We waited 20 minutes for our drinks and an additional 45 minutes for our food. The meal I ordered was the mixed grill, but the lamb chop (if that’s what it was) was charred beyond recognition. The mushroom was tiny and also burnt to a crisp. When we voiced our concerns, we were informed that there were no more mixed grills available! I won’t be coming back. Speisekarte ansehen

I just had a disappointing lunch experience at this restaurant. The food was among the worst I've ever encountered—truly subpar. I ordered a chicken, bacon, and avocado salad, but the chicken was incredibly dry and it came with wilted lettuce. I also tried the chicken tenders, which were overcooked and just as dry. A friend ordered nachos, and they were also very dry. Overall, it was a terrible meal, and we ended up leaving most of the food behind, despite being quite hungry.

Polite efficient waitress, efficient but not intrusive. We had 5 different dishes for our group of 6 and they were all well prepared and enjoyed by all. Puddings were also delicious. Only complaint, no biscoff crumbs found in the sundae. A small down side, our table area was badly lit (my elderly mother had trouble reading the menu) all the more disappointing when it seemed all the other tables not all occupied had plenty of light. This didn't distract from our lovely meal tho.

"This was our first visit. I have to remind myself that this is a training environment for students but there should be someone in charge, who is identifiable to direct the students on how to present a menu and how to place a dish in front of customers. However, four courses for £35, amuse bouche counted for one course. Amouse bouche lacked any seasoning, orzo starter, well cooked but again lacked seasoning. My wife had fish, Coley, which was nice. I had chicken breast on a bed of curry sauce with hassleback potatoes. My whole dish was luke warm at best, the curry sauce was overpowering, and the hassleback potatoes were not crispy. The chicken was lovely and moist and I ordered a side of triple cooked chips which were super hot, expensive at £4, I only wish the rest of my dish was that hot. I had cheese and biscuits which consisted of Brie, blue cheese and cheddar together with chutney. My wife had Pain Perdue which was well presented and tasty. The restaurant is more like a cafe, not cosy, so don't choose it if you want a romantic evening. Overall would I go again? probably not. If you are ever near the Lake district try to book a table in the restaurant at Kendal College. On a final note; there is parking on an evening next to the college. Drive up to the barrier and press the call button, security will let you in. The barrier opens automatically on exit."

"6 adults, 2 teenagers and 2 children went here for my mom's birthday meal. Mom chose the place as she's been here before. I wasn't sure what to expect from her description so I checked on here before leaving work. I have never seen so many 5 star reviews and hoped it lived up to the hype. We arrived at 7:30pm after driving through a pleasant housing estate. The premises are located on the ground floor of a community centre, next to the gym. The illuminated GIOS sign was the only clue. Upon entering, we saw 4 other tables were occupied, with 12-14 other patrons. The interior decor was unusual, with countless pieces of artwork, movie posters, and unusual items with an Italian theme. The tables and chairs are all different shapes and sizes, but this just adds to the charm of the place. Within a minute, Gio emerged from the kitchen with a warm welcome. We sat down and opened the drinks we had bought with us, the place is not licenced. Soon, we had ordered the taster menu for the adults and the youngsters had pizza. First we had a lovely, fresh vegetable soup, with cold meats, a crustless quiche and lovely warm bread. Not long after, Gio, who was the only waiter, came out with the kids pizzas. Freshly made and delicious, and about 12 of thin crust. Then he bought out 2 large lasagne, 2 large plates of a pasta dish with courgette, 2 plates of plain chicken thighs and breast on a salad with crispy chicken skin, 2 plates of another spicier chicken with skin, on a bed of delicious herby potatoes, and an Italian casserole with sausage and meatballs in a tomato sauce. Food was plentiful and delicious. Gio packed the leftovers up as there was a lot of food, all made fresh in the premises. We then had a chat as Gio served everyone else, without looking stressed and being so friendly and polite with everyone. He also gives a carafe of water and a carafe of juice to each table. Italian music playing, he then produced a dessert with was like a warm brownie, with thick, clotted cream, a fruity drizzle and an amaratto biscotti on top. The ladies and gents are located next door where you walk through a healing centre, with chairs creating a walkway to keep you from the various equipment. As I said, the kitchen and restaurant is in a shared community centre. I was told profits go to local homeless, and it's clear from the decoration that Gio does a lot for local charities. Mom picked up the bill of £13.50 a head (massive value) and Gio said the kids were only a fiver, but mom asked him to keep the rest which he eventually did after some persuasion. When the main rustic Italian tasters were served, Gio also served two more fresh pizzas at no cost, which he says they always do for larger groups. I have plenty of leftovers to take to work today, and we all left full after the kids plated the piano and Gio and an older customer danced in the restaurant. Three pots of fresh coffee to finish. A lovely place, beautiful fresh food, amazing value and it serves the local community. Great job, Gio!"
