"It was pouring rain on a Monday morning when we arrived here In Poyntzpass on a recommendation. We didn’t know this independent place existed. This is a small village about 8 miles from Newry and this cafe is almost adjacent to the old canal towpath, which is part of the Ulster Way so hikers, bikers and walkers are a mainstay of their business. Like many places they currently offer the current government eat out to help out deal that ends at the end of August 2020. It’s about the only popular thing this lousy government has done in its first year in power. So we sat in and it was really cosy and homely. We were captivated by the sophisticated and shiny coffee machine apparently it was only installed yesterday. The owner explained the inner workings of this contraption and I was impressed with the technology behind our coffee. We ordered large cappuccinos, one toasted chicken pineapple toastie with side salad and one poached eggs (2) with avocado mash on sourdough with chilli flakes. All in all £8.5 for two. The service was ace and it’s really worth a visit or several."

Recommended this cafe by a fellow cyclist on the newly canal. Wonderful homemade scone (fudge and banana! and nice coffee. Relaxed friendly atmosphere, will definitely return.

Called in today on the way home from a walk in the Mournes. We had vegetable soup and wheaten bread. It was tasty and warming. Good food and courteous and welcoming staff who could ask for more.

A busy lunchtime service. Obviously lots of local trade and cyclists stopping off for lunch. We had the beef Irish stew and it didn't disappoint. A large pot of tea. The staff were lovely Certainly will return.

Lovely little cafe in Poyntzpass. Nice coffee, wife said the tea was good and there was a nice selection of cakes and tray bakes with even some ones which my lactose intolerant wife could have. All in all, great little place for a coffee and bake.

Stopped here for late lunch an service was excellent. My mum fancied french toast with fruit off the breakfast menu and it was no problem. It was delicious I had panini which again was scrumptious. Would definitely recommend this coffee shop for beautiful homemade food

Stopped for a brew, looked at the menu all looked to be freshly prepared. Asked for scones none left. Then choice pancakes. they were made to order and tasty. Proper butter which did not come in the normal patty it was cut off a block. As much as you wanted was supplied. QUiet stopped which I will stop at again.

Stopped with a group of 12 friends following a cycle on tow path booked table in advance when we arrived we were given a table upstairs. We waited 1 hour 20 mins for our food to arrive. Orders were a Mix of soup sandwiches scrambled eggs toast. There were only six people eating downstairs and we were told order was slow as it was ‘mixed order’. Wldnt go back if in a hurry staff didn’t even apologise for delay

I've called in twice during the last month, late on a Sunday afternoon after a towpath walk. Nice home cooking, lovely selection of buns and cakes, limited menu for soup and sandwiches for lunch, but (unlike some other places) staff amenable to making toasties etc even when close to closing time. All very fresh and also accurate to any personal preference requests. I'd also mention that for anyone who can't walk very far, other than at busy times, there is room for several cars to park directly in front of the door and only 2 or 3 steps with a rail into the cafe itself.

We were out with our walking group today and decided to return to this cafe . As you would expect the reason we returned was because of a positive experience on the first visit . Today was the complete opposite . We had left Newry around 8 am so by 10.30 we had built up a good appetite. We went upstairs as there were no seats for a group of 5 downstairs. We ordered but it took almost an hour until we were served . When the food came , the toast had been cremated . Even the pieces that were edible were hard the cooked breakfast was scant( one egg instead of two as requested half of a tomato , the two slices of bacon were tasty) . One of our group had a salad it looked good. We are a small wal...
