SAN LORENZO - Speisekarte

This once hip and creative venue has now sunk into apathy. The food was even worse than a budget airline, the staff in attentive and the décor tired. A sad demise of a once great place.

Our last Saturday night in London and we had booked dinner via open table. We received a confirmation, but when we arrived the restaurant was CLOSED! We asked various people who work on the same street and were told that San Lorenzo was closed as they were on holiday . Inexcusable behaviour. Seriously?

This used to be one of the favourite Italian restaurants in London. So disappointing to see how it deteriorated in our last visit. Pasta was salty and other mains were bland, whilst prices seem to have gone up. It was also strange to see a waiter started to clear the table before the main course was finished. What a shame! I dined at this restaurant tonight with two friends and we were very disappointed. The food was comparable to a McChicken sandwich and fries. The cocktails were bland, and the rocket salad only consisted of rocket leaves. There was no music playing, creating a dull atmosphere. I would not recommend this place and believe it needs new management as soon as possible.

The pasta that we both had was lovely and very delicious. We had a lovely bottle of wine and some coffee afterwards which rounded of the meal just right. The servers were ever so friendly and we felt very welcomed by them. The only issue that we had is that there were customers with a small dog in the restaurant and the dog continued to bark which was somewhat uncomfortable.

Always wanted to go here and looked forward to the opportunity however, was disappointed. Saturday evening was very quiet, no atmosphere, no interaction from the waiters, food presentation did not match the price and some mains were served Luke warm. The service at this restaurant is fantastic, and the crowd is great. I occasionally visit due to my power wheelchair and the few front steps, so I always call ahead to request male staff assistance in carrying me and my wheelchair to the ground level. The staff always handles this task professionally and with kindness. Additionally, they arrange for my party to dine on the ground level so we do not have to worry about navigating stairs. I love the atmosphere, food, and drinks at this restaurant, but the service always stands out as a perfect 10, no matter what year or time I visit.

My friends and I went to celebrate my friend's 40th birthday at this restaurant as a group of four. I was surprised to find that the service was extremely poor, especially since I had dined at their sister restaurants before. I arrived late, but even after an hour, my friends had not even been asked for their food orders. I ordered the lobster linguine, which came with a hair in it. They brought me another portion without much of an apology, but I was unsure if it was fresh or just the original dish with the hair removed. I will not be returning to this restaurant and will advise all my foodie friends to avoid it as well. The £40 service charge was absolutely unacceptable.

My wife and I recently spent almost 2 weeks in London and had the pleasure of dinner at San Lorenzo twice. We came back for a second visit because the first was such a success. On both occasions we found the restaurant quiet and not terribly busy, which suited us. However, the hour was early, and such might not be the case later in the evening. The decor is comfortable, and a diner would feel at ease in dressy casual wear. On both nights we started with the carpaccio, which is truly excellent. The beef was exceedingly tender and it is dressed perfectly. There are several tempting salad choices for a starter. A salmon entree was delicious, the fish obviously fresh and not over-cooked.
