"On a recent trip to meet friends we decided to eat here I was less than impressed. The first member of staff who greeted us was very welcoming and friendly, the other was rude and obnoxious. Our orders were taken quickly and the drinks were bought out in good time, then the waiting began. The food took far too long. In that time we didn 't get asked if we wanted more drinks, my partner had to go and ask for service and for an update on the food. When the food arrived I asked for side plates, mine was dirty so I kindly asked for a clean one, the look I got from the member of staff was that of someone who had taken personal offense. The food was mediocre at a push. Oh and what is with the salad bar? We didn 't realise it was there until we left, is that for 'special ' guests? It would have been good to have know so we could chew on some salad during the wait for our food! I don 't mind food being late if we are kept informed and apologies are offered but that was not the case. It wasn 't even busy when we arrived so that wasn 't the reason the slow service."

I love this place, the ribs are famous for a damn good reason! tonight I have a burger and allg. this little jewel delivers on quality time and time again would highly recommend, my only regret? I can't give a higher rating! well done again young, fantastic!

"had an absolutely delicious vegan afternoon tea. large selection of loose leaf tea available and also an americano for coffee mackerel. several delicious sandwiches and cakes as well as the most delicious scorpions I've ever had! one of the best vegan tees round and at a really reasonable price. service was also fantastic very attentive and offers cover when it is cold. I had to check that they do vegan afternoons before booking, as the website only allows them to book “signature afternoon tea”, they need to book this and then write vegan in the nutritional needs section. feel vegan is not a “diary requirement”."

"we visited with family. the restaurant was super helpful in explaining food options. there was something for all dietary requirements we had. food came timely, beautifully presented, fresh and very tasty! the range and variety is great, all the food had something unique about it which made the meal all the more interesting to share across us all. good value for money and highly recommended to visit! also to say a lovely atmosphere, welcoming, professional and just right service from the team, great for having a conversation while you eat, lovely colourful vibe, interesting to look at decor, cared for and super clean. could not fault Cafe Brazil :"

"a few years ago, it was good. this time it was horrific. wives ' starter and main course were shocking. when both meals were replaced without cake, they were just as bad. no comments from the personal. only replaced. admittedly they took off the cost of both courses, but not a SINGEL word of apologoy. I went to the toilet and came back to see the changed bill that was just left on the table. I've taken it, and the guy just said I'm sorry. unfortunately I can't recommend it at all."

"We come to Maldon fairly regularly and occasionally stay over. The New Pavilion is was one of our favourite go to restaurants. We arrived at 7:30, as booked, and were very happy to see the front restaurant full except for our table for two. We ordered drinks at the bar and sat at our table. Maybe we should have been more aware of the situation when, after about 15 minutes, we had to tell the staff we were now ready to order. The young waitress was very apologetic and we said it was no problem, not her fault as she was doing two jobs waitressing and covering the bar as the barman had literally disappeared and was occasionally seen serving an old meal. Now we were waiting. 40 minutes? During this time we noticed a number of people shaking their heads at the staff. People walking out after questioning the service and the delay. The poor waitress, we could literally hear her in the back room crying. When our starters came we cancelled our main courses. My wife said my baked Camembert looked like a crème brûlée. I did eat it though and pay for it. I was not going to put the waitress through any more stress. I spoke to the barman as we were leaving and he seemed very surprised that I mentioned the overload of work the waitress was doing covering both jobs. He never said what he was doing during his absence. I did say that as he was obviously not the owner it was probably not his fault as well. All the tables in our corner agreed with what I told the bar manager and we’re about to leave without food. I will be very interested to see the owners reply and any excuse he comes up with. There’s no excuse. Get more staff. Hopefully the waitress has walked across the road to a top restaurant that treat their staff better. She was brilliant and deserved better treatment."
