"Clearly a serial moaner. I was behind him in the queue when he clearly ordered one of both soups. I saw the chef bring two out and then take one back so not sure how he tasted the cheese one. I felt sorry for the girl he shouted out. I had a toastie and chips which was lovely. The restaurant was around half full with only two staff so I was impressed as the speed of service was pretty quick. I will definitely return and will be sure to tell my friends. There was a nice selection of cakes too. I also got given nice booklet of offers for January. So will be using them !"

The service was not existent. The team behind the counter were more interested in their own conversation. The cake was dry, tables were sticky and dirty

The food was OK, we only had sandwiches. Staff very slow and easily confused causing long delays and queues.Even simple orders like 2 cups of tea resulted in confusion.

Lovely meal, salmon fish cakes, poached eggs and bed of spinach topped with lovely dill sauce. I had the last one even though it was only 12.15 and very few customers. Lovely staff, friendly and helpful

An odd combination that actually works quite well. The staff are very friendly and the food and drink was flying out of the kitchen when we visited. It was very clean and tidy considering how busy it was.

Place not busy- 25 minute wait for soup and sandwiches- one of the soups was not what had bee asked for but I was accused of changing my mind! Bread for sandwiches both brown and white was dry and the vintage cheddar tasteless. Never again

I visited the restaurant at Capital Gardens and I tried the vegetarian bubble and squeak. It was absolutely delicious. The fried egg on the top was the icing on the cake and the presentation was second to none. The attentive friendly service and great cuisine will ensure I return on my occasions to come!

I had a wonderful breakfast in the cafe inside the garden centre. All ingredients are fresh and very good quality. Staff was lovely and very helpful. The big bonus is that they now have designed dog area corner which is very cozy. You can now enjoy your meal or caffe with your pet friend inside cozy warm cafe.

We love visiting this garden centre which is now Capital Gardens and we are always very welcomed. Its very dog friendly, our dog Hector is very spoilt after his walk and it has a lovely seating area for dogs with fresh water. The food is lovely, we benefitted from buy one get one free breakfast sandwhiche's which were very tasty. They have created a very relaxing space, we would really recommend.

"Visited today for lunch and probably wouldn't rush back although I'm aware there's recently been a change in management so maybe a few teething troubles. Messaged via their Facebook page to book a table, no response. Never was a problem in the past. The pub was very cold with no heating at all so we had to keep our coats on. Several tables near us commented the same and all sat with coats on. The coffee machine was out of order so only instant available, which wasn't pleasant. We waited a long time for someone to come and take our food order, in the end I went and found someone. Two of us wanted the steak ale pie. Only then were we told it wasn't available. The chap said we should've been told when we were given the menus, well it was him that gave them to us! With that he said he'd give us a few minutes to choose something else and walked away. He didn't come back so I had to go and ask to place our order again. At no point did anyone ask if we had any food allergies, which I thought was a requirement these days? The food was really good, credit to the chef; it was well cooked, well presented, large portions and very tasty. We did notice that two other tables waited a very long time for their food and had to chase it up, so glad we ordered when we did. We would have stayed longer and had a dessert but it was so cold we couldn't relax and enjoy it. We were next to radiator and we did ask one of the waiters if it was possible to turn it on and he said he'd see what he could do, which was nothing as it remained stone cold! When our plates were taken we asked for the bill, but it didn't arrive. Eventually a young lady arrived with the card machine and asked us to pay, which we said we'd be delighted to do once we received our bill! When we left we walked past 3 different members of staff, all of whom had waited on our table at some point during our visit. Not one of them made an effort to say thank you or goodbye. There was no warm ambiance or friendly feeling in the pub, it felt cold (literally) and unwelcoming. I also felt that a couple of members of staff waiting on tables looked rather scruffy, none of them wore a logo'd t-shirt which I feel the staff should do as they're representing the pub or brewery. It was difficult to distinguish the staff from the customers!"
