"@stablesinn has been at the heart of the community since 1680 and is described as a pub that celebrates standing still, an oasis of calm in an ever changing and busy world and we couldn’t agree more! 5 5 Recommend Price Finding somewhere like this is one of the perks of being food obsessed. The menu suited the feel of the place and was dominated by traditional pub grub and warming homemade pies made using locally sourced ingredients. Pies all round and between us we tried them all. Steak and Shropshire blue Stilton had all the depth of flavour you would hope for in this hearty dish. Yes it could have taken more Stilton but who cares it was delish. Chicken leek and bacon pie was not for the faint hearted, perfect for those who love rich and creamy sauces. Finally the mixed mushroom and Gruyère pie, again heavy on the cream but great flavours, all topped with light, crisp puff pastry. Our meals were served with a choice of potatoes (we opted for chips to mop up the gravy) and fresh vegetables. This was all about the hearty traditional home cooking and we certainly felt warm inside like we’d been wrapped up in a cosy blanket. Bron and Nat have created home from home and we could have spent many more hours in front of that huge roaring fire with the pub dog. For the overall experience it has to be 5 5 we loved it from the minute we walked in to the minute we had to tear ourselves away. For us thestablesinn has everything you could hope for in a traditional country pub and for anyone staying over there are rooms or a shepherds hut complete with spectacular views of the countryside, great for visitors to the area. Definitely one to put on your list and let’s face it what could be better after a walk in the beautiful Shropshire Hills. Hope you like it as much as we did and we may just see you there! #theshropshirefoodies #shropshire #shrewsbury #shropshirelife #foodreview #foodblogger #foodie #foodshare #walking #instagood #countrypub #pubsofinstagram"

A wonderful find in a lovely rural location. Simple but relaxing dining pub with lovely home cooked dishes. Nothing fancy, but delicious and reasonably priced food. Natalie gave us a great welcome and made it a special evening. Highly recommended.

Came here for the views and some tasty grub. Such a beautiful location. A very relaxed, calming, old worldly pub. There were only 4 people and us two in the pub and we waited 40 minutes to get our food! Nice bar waitress but very slow service. I ordered a pie and was surprised when it arrived, it was very runny and didn't even look like a pie! But the cider and location was superb

This is my favourite pub in the world. Stunning location, great beer and real cider, fantastic home made food and a lovely atmosphere. Yes it's small so book if you intend to eat. There's a great beer garden overlooking the Stiperstones ridge perfect for a sunny afternoon. NO big screen sports! NO jukebox! NO fruit machines! Perfect. Shame I don't live closer or I'd be there all the time.

A real slice of Britishness, a true local pub hidden between the fields in on a country road with hidden carpark under the stars. Probably one of the best meals i've had, proper home made pub food...with more finesse. Fire was lt, locals and staff were extremly welcoming and the atmosphere was so inviting and cheerful. There were families with kids, couples, friends and game keepers (in full garb). Get yourself a port and a steak pie, you wont regret it!

What a gem of a find! Lovely place, excellent fresh, home cooked food, wonderful homemade desserts (the cheesecake was the best we’ve had in our memory), very clean and comfortable room, comfy bed, and you really could not wish to meet nicer people, the ladies who own this business are fantastic, really genuinely friendly, couldn’t ask for better hosts, we will definitely be back and highly recommend this haven of an Inn, if we lived nearer we would be in there all the time!

So good I had to post it twice!! One from my business and one from my personal account! What a gem of a find! By the way, the breakfast was excellent too, the garden looks perfect for a few pre lunch or dinner drinks when the weather is good...

The staff at Stables Inn saved our weekend after fitting us in last minute, after another local hotel cancelled due to a burst pipe. We stayed in the shepherd's hut, which was quaint and cosy, with a log burner to get the place really warm on a cold night. There's a toilet/shower block about 10 steps away with was very clean and well stocked with everything you need. We dined in the pub after enjoying a couple of glasses of wine snuggled up next to the fire. We ordered food, it was delicious and reasonably priced. All staff were very pleasant and friendly and even though they couldn't provide breakfast the following morning (due to the late booking) the went out of their way to provide a lis...

"Beautifull hotel, I guess one can call it trendy , but I just don 't understand how they can justify the price £130/night and that most of the time will go to £160 as they run out of entry level ones. So I guess the answer is there because people pay for it! But let 's just make some relevant comparisons Birmingham Grand literally in the heart of the city, brand new, 5* hotel, with all recently decorated rooms to the highest standard is £135 15 for breakfast. Needless to say rooms are air conditioned, fully equipped and genuinelly very posh. Hotel has lifts, has porters and the service is top notch. The Lion is barelly 4* just for trendiness alone, but the actual quality of furnishing is closer to 3*, has no lift and you will be lugging your bags up and down mutiple flights of stairs (and I mean multiple like 8 going up and down) trought narrow corridors to mediocre room (nothing wrong with it just mediocre) which isn 't even air conditioned. Sorry, I just don 't get it. That said restaurant is good fully fine dining if you are into it. Althought in my oppinion it doesn 't fit into the rest of the hotel. So it is ~3.5* hotel which is very youghtfull and trendy and then you get 5* fine dining with very tiny portions for the dinner (which is not criticism of restaurant, it is very good on it 's own). In conclussion I just don 't get what niche this hotel is filling, who stays there and why. The price for the rooms should be £75 95 tops. Shreesbury is not exactly prime tourists destination either (at least shouldn 't). But it seems it is working out for them, I just would not recommend it, I would not stay in it again and it is definatelly not worth the price. Neither in isolation, nor in comparison."

"Open since 1970 and located on Mardol, one of Shrewsbury’s oldest streets @thecurryhouseshrewsbury serves locally sourced ingredients married with traditional spices and chillies from the Indian subcontinent, a match made in heaven. 5 5 Recommended Price No better way to kick off proceedings but with popadoms, chutneys and fresh onion salad. On to appetisers and there are so many tempting dishes to choose with many of these exclusive to the curry house. Our first time trying Pani Puri. A sweet and spicy hot street food snack filled with chickpeas and tamarind sat on a bed of crunchy, nutty Bombay mix. With a building but pleasant heat, definitely something everyone should try. The quality and freshness of the seafood was exceptional. Spicy king prawns were huge and cooked to perfection. Charred on the outside for flavour but juicy and meaty. Trio of King scallops were beautifully tender and of a good size with sweetness from the tamarind liquor. Lamb rogan Josh tender lamb shoulder in a medium hot ginger tomato and onion sauce. A strong take on a traditional favourite of ours. Fresh from the Tandoor a generous mix of marinaded chicken, lamb, king prawns and a chargrilled lamb chop. The Tandoori deluxe massalla sauce was the perfect blend of sweetness melting into a subtle heat which brought the dish together perfectly. The curry house takes traditional dishes and flavours from the Indian subcontinent and elevates them to a level beyond expectations. Thank you for our invite to share the exciting menu created with passion and creativity.
