Superb meal. Staff friendly and very helpful given that my husband has to have a gluten and dairy free meal. Nothing was too much trouble, food was stunning! Highly recommend, well definitely be back. Thank you to everyone at Allanton Inn.

A superb Scottish Borders inn in the quiet village of Allanton. Exceptional and adventurous cooking, fantastic hosts who go above and beyond to welcome you and a brilliant and friendly atmosphere. If you are local or visiting then make sure you visit this award winning inn.

We enjoyed a late Sunday lunch with a group of 10 in the garden. The food and beer were excellent as always, and the service from the fantastic team was the icing on the cake. We returned for a birthday treat on Monday and once again had an amazing experience. Everything was truly faultless, just like before.

our go to spot has done it again, three visits in one week, 1 x lunch with friends, 1 x dinner with friends and 1 x breakfast, each time faultless, just perfect, others should visit and see how The Allanton team do it, the food just gets better and better, the beers, well CAMRA Borders pub of the year sums it up... perfect.. thank you to the whole gang , see you soon

We stayed here last night after being let down by air b n b. Really lovely place and the staff were so welcoming and friendly, highly recommend. The beer garden is particularly nice, looking out onto rolling hills and very peaceful. We had the complimentary breakfast this morning which was all locally sourced ingredients and **** delicious. Best scrambled eggs I've ever had. Thank you ladies for saving the day!

Mixed experience. Overall great place as the food and service are first class. The downside for our visit was the restaurant area it very echoey. My father has trouble hearing. There was a loud customer on another table and therefore the dining experience was lessened because of this. Other customers did complain. We were offered a table in the bar and everything was sorted. If they can fix the acoustics of that area I’ll give them 5 stars.

We are meeting up with friends who live nearby, and this is their top choice for dining out. It's easy to see why. The restaurant's decor is stunning and the greeting we received was warm and sincere. The staff serving us were friendly and attentive. The menu isn't extremely diverse, but the dishes are all locally inspired, which adds to the overall experience. Plus, everything we tried was delicious. The ox cheek in particular was outstanding. It's no wonder our friends keep coming back to this place.

We visited this restaurant with the intention of having some drinks and possibly grabbing a bite to eat. We brought our dog along and were seated in the garden, which luckily was dry. However, upon arrival, we were met with a list of rules regarding dogs and encountered some initial resistance when we asked to have the gas heater turned on outside. It seems that the restaurant's dog policy is based on the behavior of a specific local dog. In our area, pubs that are not welcoming to dogs are often avoided by the community as we live in a farming county where dog-friendly establishments are preferred.

So, we had booked one of Allentown’s pods for our evening meal some time ago, opting for a pod as we had our hound with us, the establishment having a no dogs policy. Fair enough. When we arrived in the pouring rain, the manager told us in no uncertain terms that due to the rain her staff would not be serving food in the pods and that our dog would have to stay in the car as the dog going inside “would upset the locals”. We said this was not an option. The way this was put across by the manager can only be described as hostile. We were told 5hat if the dog misbehaved we would be told (not asked) to leave. Had we not prepaid a deposit for the seafood platter, we would have turned around there...
