I recently met some colleagues at this venue and it was a fantastic choice. I hadn't been there in a while, but the food was outstanding and the staff were so friendly and helpful. I will definitely be returning.

Popped in for a midweek meal and couldn't fault anything. Steak was cooked to perfection, chicken coconut curry a huge success, and bread butter pudding was amazing. Friendly, helpful staff. Definitely be back again!! Speisekarte ansehen

Finally, our long-awaited family meal was a success! With school out for the summer, it was a treat to have our family stay for the weekend. The roast was delicious and the staff, although busy, made sure we were well taken care of. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone in Clacton.

Been to the Black Boy on numerous occasions now, for lots of different events and can honestly say it is a really family friendly place, serving great food and a lovely atmosphere. Whether it’s for food or just a drink, or even a live music event, a baby shower or a funeral, they are attentive and welcoming. Thank you Dan, Martin and team for all you do!

We went after a funeral, received a very warm welcome. tea and coffee served immediately on arrival. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was delicious, a lovely variety. There weren't as many people as we thought, so at the end bags were offered to take food home. It is only a couple of minutes drive from the crematorium so very suitable for a wake. We held our wedding reception for 80 here on 22nd April 2023. From start to finish the experience we had was top class. We couldn't fault all the help we got from Dan, Martin, Andrea and Liz. Along with the rest of the team here our wedding breakfast and evening reception was top class. The food was amazing and all of my guests complimented the chef and kitchen staff. They made my special day even more special. Can't thank them all enough.

The Black Boy catered the wake for my Mum's funeral. Andrea was incredibly helpful during the planning process, and the team who provided the buffet service on the day (26/06) were attentive in ensuring there was plenty of tea and coffee available. The buffet, which was provided for 30 guests, was generous and all attendees were able to enjoy a meal. Those with dietary requirements were also accommodated. A big thank you to the team for their hard work.

Arrived at 12:15 as part of a group of 16. 2 of the party were delayed by traffic but we were ready for 12: 40. Starters and Mains were preordered, followed by desserts coffee. Managed to pay at 3:15!!. The wait between courses was painfully slow. The food was mediocre at best. My Pie was made with very thick pastry accompanied by a table spoon of peas in a little egg cup sized container and too many chips. The coffee was a brown liquid and the Bread Butter pudding was stale cube of tough bread and fruit with a side of custard. My wife had scampi and chips that has few scampi and many chips followed by cheese cake which she said tasted nice but had a 2cm tough base. so the 2 of us had 2 cour... Speisekarte ansehen
