"We had travelled from Sandwich to meet friends from Eastbourne. The doors were not open at 11 as stated on line, but following a phone call they were opened at 11.30. There was a lovely warm living fire which we hogged while we enjoyed excellent coffee and catch up with our friends. The menu is excellent, the food brilliant, as was the service attentive without being intrusive. We'll be meeting more friends, from Uckfield, shortly and I think we'll be enjoying The Bull again."

"we're here several times, but every time we've been disappointed. we live locally, so it would love to dive more often. three times we invited friends, but we apologized at the end of the meal. the pub itself is beautiful and the personal attention. but we let it eat down, although the pizza and burgers are always good. the parts also seem to have improved for some elements. the rest of the menu is quite hit and miss. we had strange Brat dinner crushed flower coal cheese and Mediterranean vegetables; a jam-roly-poly that compottes as swiss roll on cold custard with some; a chocolate torte meringue that we expected to be a chocolate version of lemon melisse, but turned out to be on top with crushed meringue. I could go on, but believe that until they stop experimenting, I can't see how the dinge improve enough to bring us back. please have some honest taste tests before they set out a new menu."

"The George is a centrepiece of Cranbrook with fantastic facilities both indoors and out, unfortunately ruined by one of the most unpleasantly rude bar managers I have ever had the misfortune of meeting. We booked out the pub for the funeral wake of our best mate. From start to finish, the short haired blonde bar manager was entirely insensitive and disrespectful to without fail every single person that she served. I absolutely cannot stress enough how awkward the atmosphere became between this staff member and not just customers, but also her fellow colleagues who again, appeared to be taking the brunt of her aggression. I could not think of a worse personality for a job that revolves around customer service, it truly damages the reputation of an important establishment in Cranbrook."

"A smashing little coffee shop. A warm welcome awaited us as we strolled in with our dogs. We sat at the back of a sun trapped courtyard under an umbrella and our dogs were offered water. A very reasonably priced menu was on offer but we opted for the homemade pie and quiche. The food was smashing and definitely home made. The staff were very happy to adapt the menu to whatever the customer wanted. Definitely will return when we are next in Cranbrook."

"Found the Woodcock whilst searching the area for last minute Sunday lunch. Phoned to book and a lovely helpful girl called Rachael booked us a table. I explained we had 2 elderly (one was recently 100! ladies and we were accommodated near the door with easy access. I had a lovely pint of Long blonde ale and the ladies had a nice wine and local gin tonic. Rachael helpfully explained that the children’s roast would suffice for the older ladies smaller appetites and she was right! I’ve seen smaller main roasts! My sister had roast Turkey and I opted for the mixed roast and WOW! No less than 3 slices EACH of pork, Turkey and beef..with beautiful garlic roasted potatoes, loads of fresh veg, cauliflower cheese, crackling, stuffing, pigs in blankets and tons of gravy! All topped by the biggest Yorkie I’ve ever seen! All high quality produce and I gather locally sourced. We were all eventually beaten by the quantity and what we couldn’t eat the staff helpfully boxed up to take away. Only able to share one sticky toffee with custard and an ice cream after that but they were also excellent. The bill for 4 of us, 4 lunches, 2 desserts and 6 drinks came to only £27 per head too! The pub has been restored beautifully, the garden is sheltered and sunny with beautiful flowers and the whole place was lovely, atmospheric and welcoming. Rachael and the rest of the staff were fabulous and the landlady came over for a nice chat gave our 100 year old lady a nice bunch of flowers to take away. It made her day All in all a simply splendid visit and we will be back for sure"
