Quite frankly, it's the best pub in Darlington. Fab owners, fab beer but above all, a warm welcome.

Always a fun place to be, great prices on drinks and fantastic welcoming service. Most definitely worth a visit or two

Visited this pub for after a long walk, had a nice pint and sat outside. Just a shame the owner was not very welcoming.

An absolute jewel! Thursday lunch in the comet was excellently generous part of the white, damp cod with a light crisp dough, homemade chips and a heart-shaped (nice touch) bowl of muddy peas. Fish and chips wouldn't be the same without them. Ready with crumb and crumb. House cook best with a warm welcoming atmosphere.

5* Sunday dinner, was asked if we had enough of everything to ask for extra veg and this was made available. Good meat choice. Wide range of appetizers and sweets! The staff is beautiful and nothing was too much trouble. The only drawbacks are that regular book weeks after the week and sometimes it is difficult to get a table that really speaks for the self! And that they are no longer often open to food!

Brought our friends from Newcastle here for a meal on Fri 14th Sept, when we arrived we were told it was fully booked, so we asked if it was ok for us to just have a drink, the landlady was very nice and welcomed us in, it has a very pleasant atmosphere when you first go in, the landlady came over to us 10 minutes later and said she had found us a table, we were very grateful. My friend and I had the Rib Eye steaks and the wife’s had the Lasagna, steaks were cooked to perfections and the lasagnas were beautiful, the service was excellent especially from Faye the waitress who couldn’t do enough for us.
