"Dined here on Saturday and whilst my party were not overly happy I was impressed by my food and personal experience. It was weird that my wife was told there was no Eton Mess only for the other end of table to receive Eton Mess when they expressed their borderline anger (fussy bunch . Not sure if there is a staffing issue but lots of table cleaning needed outside. One of my party complained about the lack of service and after that the waitress was livid, even with me, and I was happy! I don’t like to leave negative reviews so hope this is constructive. When you’ve a large party a member of staff should be assigned to them to keep them sweet at all times. I respect it was fairly busy but we’d pre booked and the last thing you want to do is upset the vegetarian daughter of the bloke paying the bill ha! Also we had a couple of kids..... feed them first, for the parents sake : . I will add that the manager made things right in the end, so say no more! All in all, a lovely place, the Beef Rib looked immense! The signature burger was lovely and my sticky toffee pudding topped off what I thought was a great meal. We will be back! (If you’ll have us It will be an opportunity for you to impress and for us to have a good time, everyone wins!"

Excellent menu with GF options. The employees were well trained on GF requirements and they could make more option GF for us. They serve in the restaurant and also in the bar for visitors with dogs.

Bit hit and miss in places. Went here for our wedding anniversary. Meat, gravy,Yorkshire pudding and cauliflower cheese were excellent, but carrots were overdone, broccoli was underdone and potatoes were ok. On the other hand puddings were gorgeous and service was top quality. Would come again but would like to try the weekday menu. Good effort but needs improvement

Staff were welcoming and very friendly. Great atmosphere. Clean. Very accommodating. Great food. Food presented well and very nice. Booked for 11 people with no problems. 1 party member ordered the 3 meat roast, but there was no beef...(but it was later in the day,so to be expected)..would of been nice to be offered 2 meat roast, as the other 2 meats were available for separate dinners. All in all a great pub to eat.

The standard is way low when I came few years ago… we had a prawn cocktail with overripe avocado (brown ish), I had a beef bourguignon which was okay, but the mash wasn’t good, I had a dumpling on top which was rock-hard solid. Service wasn’t great as well, we could see the waiter struggling to get everything done, but lack of employees for busy Thursday night was quite clear. It’s a shame.. Disappointing, I’m not coming back.

Was good food although the starters all came out at different times. We had the garlic bread and koftas, and olives which were way too salty to eat. Mains we had meat feast pizza and fish and chips which were both really good. One of the lads that served us was really helpful and gave great service, unfortunately there were a group of staff clearing dirty glasses away at the bar that were swearing during a conversation, other than that was a good meal

Has a good size car park although next to a busy road there is not much noise from traffic. Large outdoor seating area with lots of tables, although some could use some TLC. Food tasted ok and portion size was reasonable. Drinks are a little pricey £5.50 a pint! Requested a Gluten free menu but this was not an option advised they would serve the burger without a bun and onion rings to ensure its gluten free, however symptoms were felt shortly after. Overall if you have no dietary requirements I would recommend on a nice day

I recently visited the Cuckoo Pub for a quick lunch and had an average dining experience. I ordered a cod fish finger sandwich, but was disappointed to find that it lacked sauce, making it a bit dry. I was also expecting some lettuce or greenery to be in the sandwich, but it did not have any. The service I received was okay, but not quite as attentive as I was hoping for. Despite these shortcomings, the Cuckoo Pub is still a decent place to grab a bite to eat. However, improvements could be made to the food and service to enhance the overall dining experience for customers.

My experience at this pub is positive and would come bck You do order drinks and food at the bar after grabbing table outside or inside. Our for was brought to us after 15 minutes of wait The food tasted good and what we ordered we would order again, next time I will order fish and chips because the portion was massive and cod fish was fresh. the sit outside was comfortable We did not like the fact that we had to go and fetch forks and knifes to eat a meal especially when wasps flyingaroundand try to get the food that is on the plate basically lady that brought our meals should also bring cutler but this is how they serve food here I need to get up and get it yourself !? . I do prefer to sit...

"The Yard Castor is an outdoor restaurant that is connected to the main pub The Chubby Castor. They provide outdoor seating during the summer and a small indoor seating area in case of unfavorable weather. From the moment you are greeted by the staff, you are treated to a five-star dining experience and the staff were exceptional. The Yard places a strong emphasis on sustainability. They take great interest in the origin, sourcing, and ethical considerations of the ingredients they utilize with a guiding principle that food is health. They exclusively use seasonal fruits, vegetables, and meats. You can see a wide variety of fresh produce growing in their garden, which makes up about 70% of their produce. The remaining 30% comes from reliable and environmentally responsible partners. We visited on a Sunday afternoon for lunch when it was not too crowded, and I must say, it was one of the finest roasts I have had in quite some time. Accompanied by two companions, I started with the individually priced Rock Oysters, which were served fresh on a bed of ice. One of my companions opted for the BBQ Pork Belly, which was so delectable that we decided to order another serving. It was cooked to perfection and elegantly presented on a small plate, garnished with sesame seeds. The main event was the Roast Sirloin, roast potatoes, carrots, greens, Yorkshire pudding with a side of Truffle Cauliflower Cheese. My roast was cooked to a perfect medium rare. Although there was a slight delay in receiving our food, it was understandable as the Head Chef was personally overseeing the preparation of each dish. The attention to detail and care that went into crafting our meal was evident in every delectable bite. For dessert, I went for Rhubarb Frangipane Tart which was delightful. It achieved a perfect balance of sweetness and tartness. The combination of flavors was harmonious, and the texture was moist and satisfying. My companion opted for the Chocolate Mousse, which featured several unexpected ingredients such as honeycomb, popping candy garnish, thyme and a balsamic glaze. The combination of these elements resulted in a delightful symphony of flavors that complemented each other exceptionally well. The culinary offerings at this esteemed establishment, nestled amidst the picturesque countryside in a charming village, are simply beyond words. For those seeking an exceptional fine dining experience, this restaurant stands as a beacon of excellence, showcasing locally sourced produce transformed into exquisite dishes with meticulous attention to every detail. The staff, highly trained and exceptionally courteous, go above and beyond to ensure an unparalleled dining experience. Without a doubt, this establishment has set a new standard for Sunday Roast, surpassing all previous encounters I have had. It will be a formidable challenge to find another establishment that can match the extraordinary level of The Yard."
