Lovely people, a lovely menu (with so many delicious veggie options along with much else): delightful!

Lovely authentic pub in an idyllic location opposite Jane Austens home. Given a warm welcome but disappointed with the menu choice which was a bit limited and rather bland and basic

What a transformation! Ruth and John have done a fantastic job turning round this pub. Great atmosphere, food and wine. Can't wait to return in the Summer once the beer garden is completed. Speisekarte ansehen

We popped in mid afternoon for a drink to see what the new managers were doing with the place. Very disappointed with the service and state of the place. We won't rush back. The tap in the loo was hanging off and it could do with a good clean...

I went to this restaurant for Sunday lunch and all the food was fantastic. It was well-presented, hot, and full of flavor. Our group of 6 had no complaints. I also loved the decor and have returned just to have a drink in the garden. The staff are all friendly and they have a good selection of ales.

I recently visited this restaurant to try their roast, and it was truly amazing. The service was top-notch, especially thanks to the entertaining Zac. I admire the improvements Ruth and John have made to the restaurant and I'm already thinking about my next visit. The dessert was also a delight - innovative and delicious. Speisekarte ansehen

I was NOT expecting this level food from this pub’s outward appearance. Just goes to show, can’t judge book by its cover… but maybe its Google review?! Not your usual pie and chips pub. Delicious and well presented. Friendly and helpful staff. We sat inside which felt like the dark dingy pub it looks from the outside, but truly the food and people made up for it!!

What a great lunch for a large family gathering. Between us we have a number of dietary needs including coeliac and vegan. Everybody was happy and enjoyed the afternoon. It was all delicious and well presented with thoughful touches like dairy free cauliflower cheese. We were seated in the lovely upstairs room and hope to come back for more family events. Thank you so much Ruth, Zac and team for catering for us (and the dogs too) so well!

We visited on Easter Saturday for a joint birthday meal. 4 adults and my 10 month old. They had a lovely quiet table upstairs ready with a high chair (I had left a note on my booking that one of the 5 was a baby so was pleased to see they 'd read it! . The service was lovely and not intrusive. Food was delicious and very unique compared to other local restaurants. Stand out dishes were the chicken burger, delicious tacos and two of our party had the black pudding croquettes which they absolutely loved. Very different and well made.
