The Grove At Walcot

Had a really really nice time here with the kids and wife. Cakes are absolutely to die for and was made to feel welcome from the get go

I had an amazing meal at this restaurant where I got to cook my steak on a black rock right at the table. It was the best steak I've had in a long time. The service was very hospitable as well. I highly recommend this place.

I have visited this restaurant many times. The food is great and there is plenty of it. The team is friendly and provides excellent service. I tried to make a reservation a few days ago, only to be informed that they are fully booked until the current owners retire today (29/01). I am disappointed. I hope that the restaurant will be taken over by new management who will continue the good work with the current team, minus the retirees. I just wanted to express my gratitude for some wonderful evenings. It's sad to see them go, but I wish them a happy retirement. Thank you! Speisekarte ansehen

Food was very good and no complaints HOWEVER My Son and Daughter had brought a small birthday cake with them for me When I asked for some small plates I was told we could not eat this on the premises because of food alagins Naturally this was very disappointing and the birthday cake taken home. I suggest it was possible that there was an expection for us to order their desserts also GIven the subject matter as it is My advice would be to show some decor and fo resight in such matters as a small birthday cake is an important and usual celebrative part of an individuals Birthday

Sticky tables and a REALLY slow service, even though it was empty. The chips tasted like those you get from a fast food chippy; greasy and with a high fat content. The steak on a volcanic rock was nice and tender, finished by yourself to your liking. My wife ordered a lemon meringue for dessert and after waiting over 30 minutes for it, we had to interrupt the waiting staff from their clearly more important private conversation to find out if it was ever going to be brought out. For the price we paid, even allowing for its remoteness, I would expect a lot better. A cleaned table would have been an appropriate start.

My husband and i eat at many locations and we ussually go by the star rating and reviews. Tgis liitle place was recomended by my daughter and i have to say it was fantastic. A very simple menu various types of steak from t bone to serloin cooked at tbe table on lava rock served with tomatoes onion mushroom and salad options of sauces. Srrf and terf, mixed grill and a few other odds and sods. And a desert menu to satisfy any sweet tooth. The management were welcomeing as was tge atmosphere. Staf attentive. Only downside is that they are selling in jan so whoevers buying the place all i can say is if it ain 't broke don 't fix it! In otherwords keep the same menu and standereds!! Speisekarte ansehen

Booked at The Grove for a birthday meal and what a wonderful experience. From the road The Grove does not give away it's secrets and this makes for a great surprise for the first time visitor. The wonderfully kept garden leads into a cosy restaurant and bar with an ambience to match its surroundings. The sight of the well stocked sweet fridge with some of the most amazing puddings was a great start to the evening. Photos taken and sent to the kids making them very jealous. The food was excellent and very tasty and the service was exceptional. If you have never been before the manner in which the steaks are presented is brilliant, I won't spoil the surprise here though. We decided to try something different for our date night and went to the Grove at Walcot after seeing another couple we know dine there. Unfortunately, the food we received did not live up to the pictures we had seen. My husband ordered the mixed grill and I had the 10-ounce sirloin, but both dishes were disappointing. The meat was just okay, and the steak was particularly terrible with tough cuts and lots of gristle. The chips were small and we only had a few chunky ones, and the tomato ketchup tasted cheap with added vinegar. For a price close to £80, the quality of the food did not justify the cost. We had been told of the Grove by a friend who said it was really worth the visit. The reviews made me chuckle, because even the one star reviews were answered in a way which made us want to go more and more. So myself, my wife, our two friends from Scotland and my ten year old daughter made the journey and we were not disappointed. We didn't have starters because i was too eager to get my hands on some gorgeous steaks. And it did not disappoint. The quality was incredible and the cooking even better. I would go as so far to say the best i have ever eaten in a restaurant. Oh yes thats cause i cooked it myself. You see, the concept of this place is to cook on lava rocks which means you cook it...
