"Friendly service, superb food! I think of myself as a bit of a fish and chips connoisseur, and this was in my top 3 F&b ever. My partner and I both agree also that the chips themselves were first class, none of your skinny fry McDonald’s nonsense these were proper skin on, crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside and hot all the way to the bottom of the tub. I’m never fussed about peas with F&c anyway so it was a bonus they didn’t come with any. Very reasonably priced for these days and absolutely delicious. Great selection of non alcoholic beer and service with a smile at the bar. Love the decor as well, true to the name there are upside down bats on the beer taps."

A cool dark atmosphere with a wide selection of beers and tasty, yet simple food. Kids were welcome and enjoyed the hotdogs.

I had a fantastic experience at a beer bar in Edinburgh. The variety of beers was excellent and the food was also quite good. I will definitely return in the future.

It had been a year since my last visit to this restaurant, but as always, the great beers and helpful, friendly staff did not disappoint. I will always enjoy coming here. Speisekarte ansehen

Fairly average. Staff not very attentive nor friendly. Rather serve the young ones first even though we're front of the queue. Food was passable, would never visit again.

The Hanging Bat offers a fantastic variety of beer and whisky, as well as tasty cocktails. The bar had a well-designed theme. The food was delicious with a nice selection of vegetarian options.

Had the misfortune of visiting this place, ordered a beer, paid the man what was a slightly above average price for a pint and recieved a HALF, avoid at ALL costs, rip off merchants preying on the unwary, was only after ordering saw the signs saying no pints, pure con artistry, should be shut down Speisekarte ansehen

Went in the Hanging Bat, mainly because of the name. All craft beers with most all being high alcohol. 6% to over 11%. You do get shorter pours because of that fact. They were very willing to give taste at the bar before you ordered. We had great service and they were helpful on answer questions about a beer. If you are into beer, this place is definitely worth checking out.

The Hanging Bat is still a favourite of mine, outside of the 'branded ' craft beer establishments. The ever changing tap list, the wide selection to cater for all tastes and the fridge full of more things to try. Getting a table/seat is never easy on a Saturday night, but we managed it and enjoyed a couple of beers each if their list. It had been too long since my last visit, and I 'll make sure it 's not as long for my next one.

"new kapitel has caught my attention after I was on top ten on trip advisor only months after the opening in the oktober last year. that and the fact that it is open for my early january birthday, made it the perfect place to celebrate to become a little older. I was with the man and his family. the man is quite used to my taste and good to the kind of kitchen that would appeal to me for a special occasion; his family not so much and I was filled with shame as his mother scornful went through the menu trying to find something she would enjoy. I've eaten with the family of the man, and I know they enjoy eating, so I think it's a failure of the menu that it is not accessible. the benming always blooming and garnish can appeal to some, but for others it is overcomplicated and it is necessary to find a balance between the two. we start with the starters and I go for venison sour wort pithvier. the venison was underheated and incredibly dry, to the happiness the sourded a little moisturizing and so saved the whole dish, but the aromen were quite not clear, except the garnitur of plastered mushrooms I thoroughly enjoyed. for the largest part we chose a fish dish for our main,- sea trout, smoked muddles, petersilien and coast herbs. where the starter fell, the main recording is getting back. the dish is rich and creamy, and each element adds the complexity of the taste as a whole, without disturbing. the concept is now an old one, and it would be deceptive if it had not worked, as it would essentially pay with this place. I enjoyed my meal in new chapter, although I do not agree with it is stellar status under the hierarchy of edinburgh eateries. it is top ten position is just a flash in the pan of hot popularity, and in time it will be plated in the upper half of the middle stage where it belongs. and that is where it belongs, the dishes can be plated with a michelin star in understood, and the venue and the supporting media has the clean lines and empty slate look of fine but eat the team has a long gone to go if that is their real aim. at the end, although it was a beautiful meal, and cheap (at the moment I would not be surprised to see their prices slowly rise) and the man’s mother found something they enjoyed and that is the most important."
