"The Merchant Bar in Glasgow is a solid shout if you're out with friends and looking for a casual place to catch the game. Plenty of screens mean you won’t miss a minute, whether it’s the big match or just background noise to your banter. The atmosphere is laid-back and the staff are friendly enough to make you feel welcome without hovering. Drinks-wise, you’re well covered — decent selection of beers, and the prices don’t make you wince too hard. It’s a good spot to settle in for a few rounds with the lads (or lasses). Now, onto the food. The sharing menu is alright — nothing revolutionary, but it’ll soak up the pints. However, I have beef with the steak. Tougher than a Monday morning and chewier than your mate’s bad opinions. The steak pie, sadly, brought back memories of a Pukka pie while at home watching the football — only this one cost more and inspired fewer cheers. All in all, great place for drinks and sports.
