"Excellent find. First time we have been here and will definitely be going back. From the moment we arrived the staff made us very welcome. The service was fantastic and the food was as good as we have had anywhere. Definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys excellent food with great service and atmosphere."

Lovely, warm evening sat in the garden to eat, service was excellent, food delicious, cooked to perfection. Unable to comment on desserts as didn’t manage any,but they also looked delicious.

We went for a sunday roast wow what a delicious meal, the meat (beef lamb) was perfect the famous bowl of cauliflower cheese was the best. Brilliant friendly service the local dogs their carers were most entertaining. Would definitely recommend the Norman Knight we will be back

"I do visit the straw kitchen occasionally and have never been disappointed. Brilliant food! Yesterday's bacon sarnies there were three of us) just perfect beautifully cooked and served with a beetroot relish, unbelievable. "Quirky.... Lovely rooms, very tidy and freshly renovated. Very small bar area, not serving food (pizza oven Thur, Fri, Saturday. , but good selection of local beers. Polite staff and cozy atmosphere, large rear garden with undercover seating. Seemingly large kitchen and store rooms, which is strange in this day an age, not to be put to better use serving food, especially breakfast and even light bite bar food. Would I stay again, definitely. Rooms: Lovely suite, big clean and very pleasant. Walkability: Nice walks in and around the area Food drinks: No food being served. Nice local ales, got breakfast at the nearby Malthouse kitchen at the brewery, and the other pub in the village does good evening meals."

"My wife and I were welcomed into the sun and ushered to a table by lovely waitress. We had a hook ale from the brewery down the road- very nice! I enjoyed an excellent sunday pork roast (me) with all trimmings. Particularly the best carrot and parsnips. Really nice gravy. The most splendid yorkshire. Potatoes were so crisp- the chef really does the veges so so well. My wife had fish and chips. The fish had the best batter and the chips very good. Homemade tartare I think- very nice. Normally she does not like the tartare but this seemed fresh and worked well with grilled lemon. We left big tip and will come back again next month when on holiday- forget Chipping Norton, they all overcharge and the customers and hosts out here in the country are quieter and more friendly"

"Ambience (5/5): Feldon Valley The Lodge is really nice and modern with cosy common areas like the indoor fireplace in the lobby, the outdoor fireplaces on the terrace. Room (3.5/5): We booked the standard double room in the main building. We checked in to a room on the second floor (poplar section). The window in the room is as small as the photos on the booking website, so that was not a surprise. The view out of the window was mainly the tree outside the window, and not to the golf course. When it comes to the bathroom, the shower is much smaller than expected. Food (5/5): For breakfast – cold breakfast is laid out on a table, while hot breakfast is available on menu. I ordered pancakes with pork back bacon and maple syrup which was really good. For dinner – I ordered the pork tenderloin which was very good. The tenderloin was very juicy and tender, while the mash was paired with finely diced apples which gives it some acidity and a good contrast. The char on the vegetables added depth to the dish. Note: we went to Sainsbury’s to buy s’mores supplies with the hope that we could make s’mores over the fireplace on the outdoor patio. We were dismayed when the front desk informed us we were not allowed to make s’mores over the fireplace."

"Visited here today after a long walk in the countryside around Brailes. The staff were lovely and welcoming. We ordered various sandwiches which came with fries we chose sweet potato versions which were cooked to perfection. The sandwiches themselves were delicious containing loads of chicken which I presume was freshly cooked and very tasty. We all agreed they were some of the best we'd had in the many pubs we'd visited. Our order did take about half an hour but there were eight of us ordering a few different sandwiches and they were obviously freshly cooked to order. Would definitely recommend. Food drinks: Freshly cooked and very tasty toasted sandwiches. Service: 4 Location: 4 Hotel highlights: Great value"
