""Delicious food served piping hot on warm plates, with generous portion sizes. The restaurant is situated in a charming old building that features a maze of rooms, complete with real fireplaces and beautiful oak beams, adding to its character. It is said to have a friendly ghost too! The staff are excellent—very friendly and attentive. They offer a carvery as well as a lovely menu. Parking is convenient; just enter your vehicle registration number at the bar when you arrive. Price per person ranges from £10 to £20. Overall, I would rate the food a solid 5 out of 5!""

I dined here tonight and the food was absolutely delicious. I would even go so far as to say that the chips were the best I've ever had!

Beware of the parking scam at this restaurant! It's a complete rip-off. I strongly advise against going here. Food: 1 star, Service: 1 star, Atmosphere: 1 star.

I have dined here several times in the past year, and the food has always been excellent. I often find myself ordering the cheesecake, even though I intend to try something new each time! The home-cooked meals are wonderful, and the cozy atmosphere of the oldest pub in the area adds to the experience.

I visited family in Middleton and decided to stop by the Boars for Sunday lunch at their carvery. It was wonderful! The vegetables and roast potatoes were consistently replenished, ensuring everything was fresh. There was also a fantastic selection of meats. The young waitstaff were motivated, professional, and very polite. We'll definitely be back! Thank you! Speisekarte ansehen

I visited the restaurant around 6:30 PM with my daughter for her 21st birthday. We didn't have a reservation, as there were 10 of us, but the staff welcomed us warmly. The food was delicious, and they even provided us with water for the baby's bottle, as well as a plate and knife to cut the birthday cake. I also brought along some ice cream and whipped cream with a wafer on top. The service and ambience were excellent. Thank you very much to the staff for making our visit enjoyable!

I've eaten here a few times but today's experience wasn't good, I wanted to order the cheese pie with mashed potatoes and beans but they couldn't swop chips for mash, dont know why as they are both potatoes so I ordered sausage mash and beans instead, it arrived smothered in strong smelling onion gravy, who puts onion gravy with beans, I had to just pick at the bits and cover it with beans. Also I feel more veggie options would be good, my partner is veggie always ends up with cheese pie or burger, thankfully he likes chips.

"My brother and his wife visited me from Co Durham and we called at this pub for lunch. The menu was limited but we all found something we could enjoy. I ordered Beer Battered Fish with the trimmings costing £11.95. When the fish arrived it looked a bit overcooked but as I ate it I realised that it was fish which I could have bought very cheaply from Iceland, and definitely not Beer Battered. My sister in law ordered Steak and Kidney Pie, this arrived rather obscured by the pile of garden peas, but as she moved the peas she discovered the smallest collapsed pie which had very little meat and was mainly gravy. The cost of this was about the same as the above described fish. My brother ordered the Beef burger. When this arrived it looked quite spectacular. The presentation was very good. Unfortunately the burger, according to my brother, tasted like a burger you would buy at a fairground or at a burger van at a car boot sale. Again this cost £11.95. When the waitress came to ask if all was ok we told her we were disappointed and she said thank you. No one came to see what the problem was. We did eat the food as we were all hungry but the only good thing about the meal were the peas. The chips were cold. The pub is in a lovely position, the décor s very nice, the bar staff were friendly and helpful. The food completely lets it down. How can they describe the fish that I had as Beer Battered ??? How can they charge top dollar for very low quality food?? One star for decor and friendly staff."
