There are a lot of places to eat in Grassington. We chose The Retreat because of the menu. So glad we did, delicious coffee and really tasty falafel wrap. Staff were friendly, highly recommend. I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. The food was delightful, the staff were friendly, and they even welcome dogs! For lunch, I found the prices to be quite reasonable, ranging from £1 to £10. Overall, I would give the food, service, and atmosphere a perfect score of 5 out of 5. I highly recommend trying the Homemade Soup of the Day!

The lunch menu featured a wide variety of vegetarian options (and I'm not even a vegetarian, but I was more than satisfied) with many items that were dairy and gluten-free, which was perfect for one of our friends. I ordered the cheese and homemade pickle toastie, along with a cream tea and a gluten-free carrot cake. Everything was absolutely delicious. The total cost was around £12, which is a great value. You'd be hard-pressed to find something like this in London. I would definitely recommend it, whether you’re vegetarian or not!

We ordered toasties. We expected there to be two slices of bread per sandwich, but when they arrived there was only one piece. We thought this was the usual practice but then saw other people getting larger portions, so I mentioned this (politely) to the staff. However the server was adamant we were wrong (including an explanation of how to make a sandwich as if we were idiots). No apology was offered. Shan't be using this cafe again, which is a shame as the food we had was very tasty, the only reason we are giving it 2 stars instead of 1.
