"Went here on a Wednesday afternoon. Pub is in a beautiful location and has nice beer garden . The ale I bought was flat. I think the barman knew it was from an old cask when he served it. The cask had clearly been sitting there for ages; the pub is not open on Monday and Tuesday. Probably the worse conditioned ale I have ever had. There were lots of local ales to choose from. For a pub that specialises in ale it js not really great. The brewery would not be happy to know this pub is serving its beer in the state it was served to me."

The ploughman's platter was fantastic, the beer selection was great, and the garden was lovely. The only downside was the crowds of other people.

This pub is fantastic! It has a great atmosphere, real ales, and fantastic food. I highly recommend paying a visit and trying the Ploughman's lunch.

The beer selection is fantastic and the ploughman's platter is amazing. We always make sure to visit this restaurant whenever we're in the New Forest.

I enjoyed a ploughman's lunch and a drink with my family at this pub. I really love this place and will definitely return for another meal in the future.

This cozy pub is an excellent choice with its friendly service, spacious garden, and impressive beer selection. Be sure to try the delicious Royal Oak Bitter. The pub opens at 11 o'clock, but food isn't available until midday.

We had a great experience at The Royal Oak and were not let down. After a lovely walk from Eyeworth Pond to Bramshaw Telegraph (definitely worth the trek), we found a traditional pub with six beers on tap, just as it should be. I enjoyed a double drop of Flack followed by a Ringwood Royal Oak, both excellently poured. This is a spot to enjoy in a stunning part of the New Forest.

This place is ALWAYS busy and it’s easy to see why. Food wise, they only serve ploughman’s. But if you’re going to do one thing then you do it really well! Lovely homemade pickle, dressing, pickled onion and coleslaw. Delish ham, pork pies and sausage rolls. Lots of beers and lagers on tap. Interesting Gins like mermaid gin. I believe they try to source everything locally and you can taste the quality. The perfect pub to walk through the new forest and enjoy a pint afterwards.

"My Wife and I don't travel so well these days but decided to go a little further afield from our usual Highcliffe and Christchurch haunts we live in Mudeford. We went twice in point of fact. The first visit was the 21st June when My wife and I had a quiet Birthday celebration lunch prior to the Family celebration later in the day. It was excellent. We only had the Mains and despite it being busy and not having booked we were served promptly and cheerfully with a round of drinks. My Wife had Chicken Pie and I had Liver and Bacon. Both were excellent and my Wifes vegetables were freshly done. I don't have vegetables. We liked it so much we went back three days later to celebrate our youngest Daughters birthday and again had lunch before the Family celebration later in the day. The meal was as fabulous as three days prior. My Wife had a Chicken Roast, our Daughter had Beef Roast and I had an amazingly well filled Steak and Merlot Pie of the Week. As before the vegetables were freshly done. Unusually for us we also had puddings (Lemon Meringue, Bailey's Cheescake and Apple Tart with Custard. All were excellent. All washed down with Tea and a Latte the former being served in nicely twee Teapots. Total cost £80 for the three of us on the second visit. Worth every penny. All in all First Class and couldn't fault it. Disabled parking nicely located in the front with ample parking for those more mobile at the side and back. Just a note for History buffs. The main building was built in 1853 by John Harrison(? a Carpenter thus the name Carpenters Arms."
