Fantastic roast dinner, I was hoping for 3 meats but they were out of beef. However, the pork and chicken were delicious. I deducted one star because it was a bit dry, but overall it was great. This was a gem of a find friendly service, food superb and hot, nice quick service, atmosphere was cosy and atmospheric what you see is what you get a lovely country pub with good food and value for money well worth a visit. I called last minute to get a table for dinner as I had family visiting. I was able to easily book a table with no issues. The service was fast and friendly, and the food was delicious. The idea of having Connect 4 games on the tables was a great touch (especially since I won 4 games in a row). It seems to be a popular spot! If you enjoy traditional pubs and good food, I would definitely recommend this place. The average price per person is between £20 and £30.

we haven't been with shepherd and dog for a while. we had visited friends and decided to try again. we were a table of four, we ordered our food and waited, and waited and waited. there were two empty tables close by, which were occupied after a few minutes. after some considerable time, both tables were served by us. we complained to the waitress and she went to the kitchen and came back and told us that the reason why the other tables were served first was one of the tables their appetizers had been served and the other table had cold food. I can fully understand the starter scenario, but I am not sure that lasagne and chips are classified as cold eating, although it was a “side salat. Aft...

Had a lovely lunch here in Nov 2023. The food was great and there was a good variety on the menu. We had a two course meal with a drink for about £25 per person. The beer battered fish and chips were devine. Dogs are allowed in the bar area but not the restaurant area. Vegetarian options: There were multiple vegetarian options, including a lovely goats cheese pie Parking: The pubs car park has a good number of spaces and there is some street parking for 3 or 4 cars directly outside.
