"I stumbled upon this restaurant by chance while driving around and was pleasantly surprised by the lovely setting. It was a bit unusual having to order from the rear garden area of the building, but I understand that it was likely due to Covid-19 restrictions to ensure customer safety. The male staff member who served us was professional, polite, and truly cared about our dining experience. We enjoyed hot Camembert with quality bread and cranberry sauce, as well as fish and mushy peas, all of which were deliciously prepared and served promptly. I opted for a Heineken Zero in a pint glass, while my companion had a chilled Coke. Despite the limited seating options in the beer garden due to Covid-19 guidelines, the garden was spacious and charming, complete with a pond and a view of a ruined castle. Additionally, there was ample parking available. Would I return to this restaurant? Absolutely."

Booked a table at the White Lion, as we were staying at a B&B in the village. Has a large outdoor garden in an ideal sun spot. Food was lovely, waitress was very helpful and friendly. The pub is right next to the castle and sceanic moat with swans and ducks.

I had a fantastic dining experience today. Enjoyed a delicious 3 course meal for under £20. The food was absolutely beautiful and the portion sizes were just right. I highly recommend this restaurant, especially since it's our local. Looking forward to our next visit!

We ordered two meals, both of which were lukewarm. I had the home cooked ham and vegetables with a white sauce (possibly parsley), but found it bland. The pot of tea was very small and also lacked flavor. The prices were a bit high, but my main concern was that I ended up getting gastroenteritis. Speisekarte ansehen

Went for Sunday lunch. Second time we have been to this pub having been to event in Oswestry. The pub allows dogs in the bar area and garden which is great especially when weather hot. The food was fresh, tasty and well presented. An excellent Sunday roast. The staff were efficient and welcoming. Gardens and restaurant overlook castle and lake. Nice clean pub.

Went to the white Lion yesterday evening for a baby sex reveal. There was around 14 in he party. We ate outside due to the nice weather. Inside though everything was superbly set up for social distancing. The food was delicious, it came out hot and all at the same time. But best of all was the amazing customer service by the young gentleman that served us, nothing was too much trouble. A truly lovely afternoon out... We will all be bck.

I have got to say that was the worst roast dinner I have ever had, the meat n gravy was brought out first which was only just warm and had to wait a while for the veg to be brought out separately, there was one roast potato cut in half that had obviously been stood keeping warm for hours as it was rock hard, the carrots had been dipped in boiling water as they were rock hard, brocoli was the best part of the meal sadly, shame as the young girls serving were very pleasant and helpful, we will pass this one by in future !! After a fabulous meal there in November 2019, we thought we would give the pub some custom again, what a mistakeStarters goat cheese tartlet was like a small bit of cheese on toast rather stail bread), black pudding was just okay.Main course two of us had Fish and chips you would expect what can go wrong, the fish was soggy the batter tasteless and the chips were awful, others having the chips said the same. One had a dessert Eton Mess that was good.On top of that the bill had full price for the sweet when it should have been reduced as some had the set fixed price menu.We will not be returning as was the plan in November Sorry but extremely disappointed. The staff were fine, one we remembered...

"Beautifull hotel, I guess one can call it trendy , but I just don 't understand how they can justify the price £130/night and that most of the time will go to £160 as they run out of entry level ones. So I guess the answer is there because people pay for it! But let 's just make some relevant comparisons Birmingham Grand literally in the heart of the city, brand new, 5* hotel, with all recently decorated rooms to the highest standard is £135 15 for breakfast. Needless to say rooms are air conditioned, fully equipped and genuinelly very posh. Hotel has lifts, has porters and the service is top notch. The Lion is barelly 4* just for trendiness alone, but the actual quality of furnishing is closer to 3*, has no lift and you will be lugging your bags up and down mutiple flights of stairs (and I mean multiple like 8 going up and down) trought narrow corridors to mediocre room (nothing wrong with it just mediocre) which isn 't even air conditioned. Sorry, I just don 't get it. That said restaurant is good fully fine dining if you are into it. Althought in my oppinion it doesn 't fit into the rest of the hotel. So it is ~3.5* hotel which is very youghtfull and trendy and then you get 5* fine dining with very tiny portions for the dinner (which is not criticism of restaurant, it is very good on it 's own). In conclussion I just don 't get what niche this hotel is filling, who stays there and why. The price for the rooms should be £75 95 tops. Shreesbury is not exactly prime tourists destination either (at least shouldn 't). But it seems it is working out for them, I just would not recommend it, I would not stay in it again and it is definatelly not worth the price. Neither in isolation, nor in comparison."

"Open since 1970 and located on Mardol, one of Shrewsbury’s oldest streets @thecurryhouseshrewsbury serves locally sourced ingredients married with traditional spices and chillies from the Indian subcontinent, a match made in heaven. 5 5 Recommended Price No better way to kick off proceedings but with popadoms, chutneys and fresh onion salad. On to appetisers and there are so many tempting dishes to choose with many of these exclusive to the curry house. Our first time trying Pani Puri. A sweet and spicy hot street food snack filled with chickpeas and tamarind sat on a bed of crunchy, nutty Bombay mix. With a building but pleasant heat, definitely something everyone should try. The quality and freshness of the seafood was exceptional. Spicy king prawns were huge and cooked to perfection. Charred on the outside for flavour but juicy and meaty. Trio of King scallops were beautifully tender and of a good size with sweetness from the tamarind liquor. Lamb rogan Josh tender lamb shoulder in a medium hot ginger tomato and onion sauce. A strong take on a traditional favourite of ours. Fresh from the Tandoor a generous mix of marinaded chicken, lamb, king prawns and a chargrilled lamb chop. The Tandoori deluxe massalla sauce was the perfect blend of sweetness melting into a subtle heat which brought the dish together perfectly. The curry house takes traditional dishes and flavours from the Indian subcontinent and elevates them to a level beyond expectations. Thank you for our invite to share the exciting menu created with passion and creativity. "Fantastic range of small dishes and meals for lunch and dinner. The menu ranges from scandi to oriental, so something for everyone. The menu is clearly marked with allergens, including what meals can be adapted. The chicken is halal and vegan and vegetarian options are plentiful. The cocktail and mocktail menu is great and they do one of the best espresso martinis in Shrewsbury. The decor is modern and comfortable and there is plenty of space. As a wheelchair user, I can get into the ground floor and to a table. The outside seats are up a small step, but the whole front of the building is a retractable wall of windows, so I can still get the feeling of eating outside in good weather. The service is friendly and knowledgeable about allergies, the menu and the wine list. The staff are helpful and unobtrusive. The only difficulty for me (hence the 4 star review) is that the accessible bathroom is next door, in their sister bar, Libertine. Unfortunately, libertine isn't open the same hours as HotRS, so I can only use it at certain times. The ladies does have a lock on the door, so staff have cleared the ladies toilets, which allowed me to take my chair in and lock the door. I had to walk a couple of steps to get into a stall but my chair was safely with me. Of course, there is also no alarm cord, but they stood outside the door so would have heard if I shouted for help."
