"Sunday roast to really scream. 1. visit the royal oak pub today in pett. we always try somewhere else for a roast lunch when we are near hastings on Sunday. we booked a table with ease this morning! when we arrived at roast at 15.00, the parking was almost empty 2 points! well, we did not need to fear that the staff was beautiful and courteous and that was enormous I had the toasted lungs of pork with apricots and apfel stuffing him in the interiors for lamb. both meals came out with yorkshire puddings the cheeks she had made new her mother I could go on, but I won't. beware to the chief and kitchen staff for providing the "best "sunday roast in this neck of the forest...10/10 bier choice excellent and a real pub with charming pub garden to shoe (it was the jubileee weekend and always where outside in the sticks was quiet)"

"Visited after a day out in London, arrived late due to torrential rain and train disruption but the welcome could not have been nicer. There was a party going on and a live band, the atmosphere was great and the staff were so friendly, felt like a great big family. Food was typical pub grub, flavoursome and hearty portions I had the steak and Stilton pie, absolutely beautiful. It felt like a real community hub, there was a Royal British Legion raffle, and tables with poppies and all the other RBL merchandise to buy, but no pressure, Just a lovely evening and I would definitely recommend it! Price per person: £20–30 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes: Roast Dinner, Pudding, Calamari Rings, Steak and Stilton Pie of the Day"

"This tearoom serves freshly prepared food and delicious cakes. We ordered a range of light lunches; the ploughman's came with a very generous selection of 3 cheeses, but the crumb ends of a packet of crisps which was disappointing, the egg mayo baguette was perfectly adequate, the toasted tomato and mozzarella panini was good, but the mushroom quiche was mostly egg with just a few mushrooms sprinkled over the top. It was disappointing to see sauce sachets, and of a dubious brand.. Partly because of the awful single use plastics, partly because it's so often a bad sign when cafés don't feel it's worth providing a quality ketchup and mayo. We then ordered some cakes, and these were all good without exception! 4 stars for freshness and nearly very good, but for me would need to get rid of sauce sachets, ends of crisp packets, and take a little more care in sourcing tomatoes and salad ingredients with actual flavour to get top marks!"

"We popped in a few days ago with our granddaughter for refreshments having walked around Winchelsea in the sun and were pleasantly surprised by the secluded well maintained beer garden at the New Inn. A few days later we thought we'd visit again for lunch, my wife quite often orders a prawn cocktail from the chain type pubs and is normally pretty much under whelmed. However the one she ordered here which admittedly included crawfish tails was to her mind the best she has ever had. Just the right amount of chopped salad of cucumber, cherry tomatoes which wasn't just lettuce from a bag a good portion of prawns topped with crawfish tails and finally a superior home made sauce along with quality bread and butter triangles. I had fish and chips, it was cod and a decent batter and chips none of which were greasy. The only very small detail were the petit pois garden peas which were slightly lacking in taste although they were superior to the ones normal restaurant's serve. The staff were lovely and attentive checking on our enjoyment of their food. We definitely plan on eating here again."

"What a great idea! Build an actual size pig, paint it red and plant it on the beach to grab the attention of hungry beachcombers! A vehicle big enough to house a substantial kitchen and tables and benches with outdoor picnic tables to accomodate the masses and you've got it made! List your top 3 choices; keeping it simple, on the blackboard and watch them come! Chicken Sharwarma, Pork Sausage on a bun and Fried Halumi with Quinoa and veggies, were the choices of the day when we arrived at noon! The outdor tables were already full so we opted to sit inside the cute little bus and have lunch. My husband and I had the fresh Chicken Shawarma on pita bread and our friend had the Halumi! The Shawarma was savoury and hot, unlike anything we'd ever tasted! Apparently it was quite different than the Shawarma the day before! The owner and chef was a real character, amiable and chatty. The fried Halumi was a taste delight too with tender pieces of cheese, crunchy veggies, pickled onions on a bed of quinoa. We were amazed that food this good could be found in a food wagon! Thank Goodness we weren't out for a quick swim that day!"
