Vineyard Greek Taverna

Good to find spanokopita was still a slice from a large pie and roast potatoes are still on offer. If they could bring back the starter meze we wouldn’t have to choose what to leave out!

had a pleasant experience in the taverna with my wife and yr old.Very attentive staff and owners who check on us again and again. the three courses on the better part of the hours to test. the food was good if not super, but the service and the ambiente were absolutely top class.

Sadly the food was very disappointing. It was bland, boring and flavourless. No one in our group particularly enjoyed the food and at best some dishes were average. The staff were very attentive. I came here with my girlfriend as we kept meaning to give this place a visit, and boy were we happy that we did! The atmosphere was great, the service was friendly and attentive, the food was delicious and portions offered fantastic value for money. We ordered the Meze for two people £50.00) and two Coke Zero £5.00). Highly recommended!

Food service is just to perfection. Freshly homemade traditional Greek Cypriot food cooked with local fresh ingredients. This restaurant has been family owned since 1974. Even if you pass by on a Friday they also do a great fish chips or sweet potatoe fries, you can even have the whole seabass butterfly opened. You won’t be disappointed with any of the food.

Another excellent meal with family last night. Some having moved to another part of South London travelled back to go here. The spanokopita is now a slice from a large pie rather than individual pies. The ratio of filling to pastry works better for now. There is now a choice of chips or roast potatoes and as the waitress said people always react positively to that. Yummy, Greek Style roast potatoes was the verdict. What a shame. My favourite London restaurant no exaggeration has had a makeover and lost its star dish. Gone are the 1970s/80s plastic grapes which oozed old retro charm and gone from the menu is the signature oktapodi in red wine. For 18+ years I have made occasional visits to the vineyard JUST to eat that dish. It was that good. New lighting is too harsh too and along with the removal of the plastic grapes and bazoukis that decorated the interior, has really reduced the appeal of eating in the vineyard. What a shame.

When it closed we were concerned it had shut as another victim of Covid. Then the new website and phone number. Glad to say we went last night (they reopened last Friday) and the owner and food are as before. We sat outside but what we could see inside looked similar no change to the layout, new flooring and white walls as freshly painted. Menu looked pretty similar. Mezes and dishes we remembered. Prices a bit higher but I’m not sure I remember them going up in a while. Mini meze £14.00, kebab £13.00. We didn’t recognise any of the front of house staff apart from the owner but the service was good. Food cooking and portions were as before. Sitting on a Camberwell street doesn’t have the atm...

I have been going to this restaurant for years and years and so have my family and friends and so I was very upset when I went there yesterday with my family to be treated appallingly by some new waitresses that were serving us. Food was good as always but service was atrocious and made me very uncomfortable to the point my uncle swapped seats with me! We had just finished eating our starters and the waitress came over to clear table and asked if we wanted our mains yet to which we asked if we could have 5 or 10 minutes before.
