"Generally lacking in ambience; landlady unsmiling. Decor drab grey, poor lighting. Tables need flowers or candles. No bread offered, had to ask. Service slow,even though only three tables occupied. A diner on next table said hats off to the chef, he/she has managed to cook a Sunday lunch and removed all the taste . We agree. Vegetables clearly came from freezer, at a time when the whole country is knee deep in wonderful fresh produce! Gravy, a sort of orange colour, was packet, no use of meat juices to add flavour. Overall, a sad little pub appearing to be a bit tired with staff going through the motions. Not sure why they 've added the phrase 'wine bar ', which it really isn 't!"

Very average food and only one waiter covering the bar also, so poor service, also rather expensive, won't be visiting again.

booked pre theatre dinner and arrived at 6.00. Still not served by 6.45pm and had to ask them to hurry up. Food finally arrived which was very good but had to rush, so spoiled enjoyment. Only had time for 1 course and no coffee.

Food was excellent and great value for money. Service was rather slow but the guy serving explained they were short staffed, in fact he was serving drinks and food on his own, he did a great job under the circumstances and was very welcoming and friendly.

I was rang from the white Lyon on the morning before I was to go to cancel my table as they did not do meals on this day the 1st April. Unfortunately, we ate at the White Lion on an evening when they were short staffed. It's a shame they didn't warn us when we arrived. We waited for 25 minutes to see a menu, then waited an hour for the starter to arrive. Between starter and main course was 30 minutes. Had to remind the waiter 3 times that we had ordered water. A shame it was such a bad experience, as the food was good.

JOKE!!!!! DO NOT GO. BOOKED ONLINE AND EVEN PHONED A FEW DAYS BEFORE ARRIVING TO CONFIRM TABLE. ARRIVED AT 4.15, NO LIGHTS ON ANYWHERE. SAT IN CAR WITH A COUSIN 70 YEAR WITH DEMENTIA) AND OUR WIFES, 4.30, THE TIME OF OUR MEAL, STILL NO LIGHTS, ALL IN DARKNESS AND LOCKED. PHONED TO SEE WHAT'S HAPPENING, NO ANSWER, JUST VOICEMAIL. IF YOU LIKE SITTING IN DARK CARPARK AND BEING LET DOWN BY UNPROFESSIONAL CONDUCT, BE MY GUEST! IF NOT, AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! JOKE!!!!
