Wild Carrot and Bar

We went to the Wild Carrot for our Anniversay. It was a noisy child filled restaurant so we had to eat in the Bar. The food was terrible and the steak at was not edible. I cannot remember the last time I had...steak I could not eat. Over all whilst the waiter was excellent the food was so very poor. I would not eat there again.

Ate multiple times during a stay poor experience of service and drinks over all occasions; atmosphere is very odd for a Four Seasons and would not recommend (but also no choice as only place for lunch and dinner currently). Not as billed on the...website as a high-end place for dinner. Fine dining prices and family carvery style service and atmosphere!

I have been trying to book a table for months. Nobody answers the phone, nobody responds to emails and when I spoke to front desk at the hotel they took my details and still not had a call back. We enjoyed a wonderful, family Sunday lunch at the Wild Carrot in celebration of my wife’s birthday. From the time of the booking the rules applying to COVID were clearly explained and were carried out during our visit this made for a more enjoyable...experience as everyone’s safety was being catered for. The restaurant was quite quiet but still had a good atmosphere. The staff were attentive, polite enthusiastic and the food was well presented and delicious.

Let’s start with the positive. When you eventually get your food it is tasty The rest goes down Terrible service waiters are trying but feels like it is only students or beginners. Between getting orders wrong, meals arriving at different times, plates not...collected from tables etc… This is even more annoying as it comes with a fairly high price tag for what you get. Breakfast is probably the best. I can’t stress enough what a wonderful dinner this was. The setting and ambience in the restaurant were perfect, the music was perfectly curated for an enjoyable evening. Our waiter was really well informed and personable, he made the whole experience just that little but...better. Turning to the food, wow! I had the strip loin with almonds and Parmesan and it was an utter delight. As it’s black truffle season we threw caution to the wind and had a pasta course. Having booked the Wild Carrot as a birthday lunch following Lockdown on the back of their reputation we were completely underwhelmed. On arrival the greeting and checking of temperatures was efficient and the grounds and buildings beautiful and well maintained with friendly professional staff. Before...lunch a drink in the bar area with drinks which were on par with a local pub, the Kir Royale had so much Kir it tasted of pure syrup, no cocktail list available as the classics are all available as long as you know what they are! First impressions were great, reception explained all safety protocols and directed us to the restaurant. A warm welcome from the restaurant staff and lovely location. Nice cocktails to start, unfortunately the overall experience was lacking especially for the price. Side plates for bread but none...offered. Starters were very good. This restaurant is housed within the excellent Four Seasons Hampshire hotel. Unfortunately though this restaurant seriously lets the hotel down. We found the service to be very good, and the ambiance of the restaurant is lovely, but the food leaves so much to be desired....There is minimal choice on the menu (even most small restaurants and pubs have a more extensive and varied menu), so if you’re staying in the hotel for quite a few days as we were, you would very quickly become bored with eating the same things.
