"Oh, my God, what a tasty bite! we were in a nearby airbnb and one of the reviews for the accommodation mentioned how well this Michelin star restaurant was. we have booked short notice and after looking at the menus on the line we decided to ask before. go to menu “Homard Bleu” with their wine selection. we were already in many beautiful restaurants, but this was the first Michelin star restaurant for our vater. we wouldn't have asked for something better. on a beautiful sunny evening we were picked into the gardens, with well-maintained grass, ripe trees, flower beds and a swimming pool to be met by the maitre d. he could have been pompous, but was nice, our French is poor, his English, somewhat better and he was professional, obviously very intelligent and had a great feeling of humor. we sat on a garden table for a while enjoying all the experience and served delicious aperitifs along with some delicious appetits, a precursor of what was to come. once on our table, on the open terrace, we were treated with an extraordinary, culinary joy from the chef of cuisine, an extraordinary service from the waiting staff and an amazing, magical performance of the sommelier who knew instinktiw, which wein, from the many hundreds that are offered would interact perfectly with each cure. we could imagine that this gandalf has danced like master over his tasting table in the cellar, spends months, not perfecting his mystical art for years. fantastic! they should have seen our fathers face, from beginning to end, the ray of joy that was spread from ohr to ohr for his cheerful joy. we can only recommend that if they ever find themselves within 50 miles of carcassonne, first that they come to see the wonderful city of burg, because it is really a wonder to see and second come and experience the magical culinary magic that is being worked in this fantastic restaurant."

"We were visiting Carcassonne for three nights, arriving on a Sunday evening. Knowing that there would be few restaurants open at that time we did a search on Trip Advisor for good restaurants. We sent emails to four restaurants that caught our eye and had replies from two. As I have a food allergy we were quite concerned that it would be difficult to find a good restaurant. How wrong we were! The lovely chef proprietor, Michele, emailed us back very quickly and said that she was unable to send us her menu as she shops each morning for the fresh meat etc and then makes her menu based on what she has bought. She said that it wouldn't be a problem to cook for us as everything is prepared freshly. We duly booked for 8:30 pm and were very impressed by the menu for that evening. As a starter my husband had a glorious salad of watermelon, a feta-type cheese, black olives and lovely salad leaves and said that it was delicious. I chose the dried ham, melon and leaves, which was equally good. Both portions were very big. The waitress asked if everything was okay and we told her the food was wonderful. The lovely chef, Michele, came out to introduce herself to us just before the main course and told us a bit about the food and her ethos for good cooking. As our main course we both had brochettes of rump steak served with vegetables. Divine! There were two brochettes each, wow! Such enormous portions. Feeling very, very full we only had ice cream as dessert, but the vanilla was the best that we had ever tasted. We had eaten so well that we I needed to walk around the town for an hour before we could contemplate going back to the apartment. The food was so good that we wanted to re-book, but the lovely chef, Michele, said that she was closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, so we booked for Wednesday lunchtime as we were returning to England that evening. We were asked what we would like to eat and Michele said that she would make sure she bought it. My husband chose magret of duck and I had a veal chop. Again, the food was absolutely wonderful. Knowing how big the portions were we chose to share a starter and dessert. As a starter we had warmed Camembert cheese and a big salad of cherry tomatoes and mixed leaves and again had ice cream for dessert. The main courses were as big as expected and we didn't need anything else for the rest of the day!The restaurant is located near the Pont Vieux and so is easily accessible from both the new and old cities. The food prices are very reasonable and the drinks are far from expensive. If you are visiting Carcassonne I urge you to go to this restaurant, I know that you will not be disappointed. Should you also have a food allergy, then email Michele, I am sure that she would do her very best to accommodate your allergy. In short, wonderful food wonderful chef."

"Please note this is my first review of a restaurant ever but I was moved to write one on this particular occasion. We dined last night at this restaurant with our son and daughter and had such an awful experience. We live in Collioure, originally...from Scotland and travel to carcassonne a number of times a year for the last years ... we stay in La Cité and always make a point of dining at this restaurant as we have enjoyed the food.... we have taken family and friends to celebrate special occasions too. We had made our reservation a number of weeks ago, when we turned up the staff couldn’t find our booking, and were very irritated, so no welcome of any sort... we attempted to show them the reminder txt we had in fact that morning to confirm our booking but they didn’t want to look at it....they told us to go and sit at a table, not shown to table by staff, the table was at the entrance of the restaurant and one of the chairs was overhanging the entrance stairs, so if you moved out at all you would have fallen down the stairs. We politely asked if we could move to another of the empty tables, staff just said no as booked. We attempted to sit at table but I was not happy that one of us would forget ourself and fall down the stairs... with no polite service, staff shouted at us across the restaurant to say we could move as the other customers were late anyway... we thought ok not the best start but let’s move on... we noted that people did turn up mins after our arrival as the reservation who easily sat at the table by the entrance with no risk of falling down the stairs... The staff who waited on us were very short abrupt from the start... we ordered a bottle champagne as our first chance to escape and process a difficult few months with the loss of my mother over the lockdown period.. we were not served this, but had to pour for ourselves all night (not a big deal, but not what you expect for the money .. we were never offered any water, or more drinks for kids the rest of our stay... we waited over hours for our main courses and asked the waiter at this point where our food was as the restaurant was now emptying... he didn’t reply or apologise, but suddenly appeared with our food... at this point our daughter had finished her main course hours earlier and the plate was still sitting there... as were all the empty glasses... no attempt to clear or come near our table to provide any service... my husband and son love the cassoulet and they still enjoyed despite the long wait... I asked the waiter at this point if there was a problem and he made a face and didn’t reply! We had wanted to order desserts and our daughter had already ordered from the kids set menu but we were all very isolated badly treated upset that we decided we didn’t wish to be insulted further. The owner had spoke to us when we moved table to call our daughter a princess and was very attentive to many more tables, perhaps friends more regular customers than ourselves. The waitress didn’t make any eye contact and left the bill sitting at the edge of table for my year old daughter, no indication to ask if we had enjoyed our meal as we would have expected from a good quality restaurant. We paid the euro bill and I then called to speak to the owner to explain how annoyed upset we were at such poor service which was delivered with lack of interest abruptness. The owner was not interested in hearing anything and we left feeling we will never return to this restaurant and would advise other foreign visitors to not dine here if the staff are temperamental about which customers they provide better good service too or easily take exception to particular customers. This is a factual account of our evening dining at this restaurant. There are plenty of other great restaurants in La Cite and in the wider Carcassonne area... we will be dining in those in future!"

"My husband and I stopped here on Saturday with our two eight-year olds for lunch. We arrived at 12.45ish to find we were only the second set of diners in a very big restaurant. Only one other table was taken during our stay.We waited about 10 mins to be offered a menu and then another 10 before our food order was taken - then we were offered drinks. The waitress taking the order was less than welcoming, patronising when I ordered a medium steak 'a point' for my daughter and a rare one for myself. It was then another 20 mins before we were served our first course of three. So service was slow, not very friendly and not very attentive. I would hate to see what it is like when it is busy.Apart from the service the place was dirty - the bread station hadn't been cleared for service since at least the night before, the bar top was dirty and behind in total chaos, the unisex toilet was dirty and the sink and mirror hadn't seen a cleaning cloth in days would be my guess.Yes the meat was good - and the children were fascinated to see it butchered in front of house and cooked on the open fire - but that is about all that was good about it. The rest of the menu was very lack-lustre, not presented or served with any care and to cap it all dessert came before the main plates had been cleared. The children's menu was steak or nothing - which for us isn't a problem but a family with younger children would struggle to find something on the menu to eat.All in all very disappointing - we won't be going back!"
