"Great restaurant outpost right outside of Taormina. Despite not being in the city it does get very packed so reservations for dinner are recommended. Outdoor patio is adorable and very romantic with the lights awning, and the view is very great down the hill. You can also watch the cars trying to get into the Taormina parking lot and get jammed up in traffic. There's a small parking lot in front of the restaurant for guests. Staff is extremely friendly, and some of the waitstaff speak English although not all. They did not have an English menu when we came here although we got by with Google translate. The pastas are absolutely delicious and must try. All of the pasta dishes are delicious, we shared quite a few of them. They are generous with the bread on the table, and the wines are very affordably priced by the bottl.e The appetizers especially the seafood options were all fantastic as well. The entrees were less standout and I wouldn't really recommend any of them. We shared a steak which was pretty gray and a bit tough. Prices were not as steep as inside the city. Absolutely worth an outing from Taormina. It's walking distance although you need to go down the highway leading into the parking lot where there isn't a sidewalk."

"The reason I awarded this restaurant 3 stars and not less is because of the superb view. Otherwise it is not worth paying so much for the food on offer. I was not going to write a review because we enjoyed the view and most of the staff were nice and we were given the best table on the terrace we enjoyed the view immensely. However I later decided to write because it is a pity to have such a beautiful location and have such poor quality food on offer. Hopefully the management will address this problem other guests at the same hotel we were staying in, had exactly the same opinion, a sheer waste of money. I also felt a review would be the fair thing to do for fellow travellers who might be saving this dinner as a trip highlight. Above all to be fair to other restaurants throughout Tarormina who with great sacrifice are offering a much better product. Reasons for low rating: 1.We had a short wait, no problem at all, but even the tiniest hole in the wall restaurant offers a glass of prosecco while you wait 2. Pasta course simply disastrous. The plates were brought to our table very soon, which did not bode well. In fact it was bland, all clumped up as if it had been heated in a bowl and dumped onto the plate; I had to losen it up with my fork. And it was so overcooked soft and clumpy, far from al dente! My husband 's had warm and cold pockets, surely heated in a microwave. 3. Main course chateaubriand this was quite ok albeit not the best cut we 've eaten, medium rare as requested, although bleeding onto the plate. But ok. However we were not given a steak knife but a common table knife and, worst of all, the accompanying sauces were taken out of a jar for sure, mayonnaise and sauce tartare and a very watery gravy. Blasphemy for such a restaurant and prices. 4. Dessert nice although I wanted a cannolo and the person taking the order gruffly said 'no cannolo, finished ' while looking elsewhere. 5. A nice touch was a good amount of pastries brought along with the coffee a suspiciously good amount. Well, they all tasted the same, actually not tasting of anything, just bland pastry rosettes. I repeat that this review is meant to sound an alarm, many people we met in Taormina had the same opinion, and it is a pity. I rarely write such reviews in fact."

"We're delighted to have discovered the Re di Bastoni when we visited Taormina May 2022. We loved the Re di Bastoni's Sicilian charm, friendly, cheerful and welcoming staff! This is the ideal place to stop and enjoy an aperatif and one of their light bites. There is a pleasant atmosphere accompanied by Jazz, where you can watch people walk by the bustling street. We enjoyed cold beers and complementary crisps and nuts. We returned several times, and for after dinner drinks to enjoy a Lemoncello. We hope you enjoy Re di Bastoni as much as we did!"

"Trovato per caso, siamo stati attratti dal menù fisso che abbiamo trovato di nostro gradimento, antipastini, risotto di mare, secondo di pesce (trancio), sorbetto. Abbiamo trovato tutto gradevole come gusto e tutto sommato anche come quantita ' (ma non siamo più mangioni come prima). Certo ci ha un po ' sorpreso il fatto che le bevande non fossero incluse, (almeno l 'acqua si poteva inserire) che, col coperto, fanno lievitare il conto. Poca trasparenza dunque, anche se il servizio è stato gentile e rapido ed il locale è semplice e informale stile vecchie trattorie."

"Terrible food here, it literally had to send it back to the kitchen because it was unusable. GF Pasta claims to be homemade, but is 1000% pre-packed (the shape they have for the GF option is impossible to create with gf dough). I wouldn't mind if they told the truth. The Bolognese sauce was so badly smelled and tasted, worse than Chef Boyardee. Absolutely disgusting. My husband has the pizza with mushrooms and became almost sick after eating it from all bad quality masses of the great mozzarella. The dough was almost one inch thick and extremely sweet, the tomato sauce was very tasteless, and the amount of cheese (and I love cheese to max) was ridiculous. It seemed like an overcompensation to mask the terrible taste. Then there were about 5 canned mushrooms upstairs. Absolutely rough. They charge 2 € extra for GF, which is good, but then the only pizza that basically cost us $14 with the cover fee. I haven't paid for the pasta since I sent her back. Friendly staff, but this is a terrible TOURIST TRAP! Please save your money and literally go somewhere else."

"WORST EXPERIENCE I'VE EVER HAD I travelled in Taormina and passed by this restaurant just now. （Sep.28th 7:50PM）We have four people. A male elder waiter gave us a table near the performance seat. It was too noisy and we said we would like to wait for another table. We were the first waiting there and others were coming after us. However, the funny things happened. When a table was ready, the waiter and the waitress gave the table to other people coming after us. I told them we were the first in the line, and they replied with Italian instead of English. VERY IMPOLITE. It was really rediculous. I went to different countries and restaurants all over the world. NEVER met a restaurant like this. You don't know come first, serve first？？？Because we are not Italian, so we were treated like this with a discrimination？？？ . Suggest you should let your waiters get trained first. Taormina is a city full of tourists. Discrimination sucks. If you don't know who come first, you can see the monitor of your restaurant."

"Haphazard service. Four different waiters, 30mins to take order, offered the olive oil half way through first course after the bread was finished. All of that I could accept as early season teething. Then my glass of wine was spilled all over me by the waitress. Not only did no one come to bring a napkin, wipe the table etc, the wine was not refilled and I was still charged. The food is also distinctly average, pasta arrived like warm and had a strange addition of breadcrumbs which does not work at all well in the dish. I expect next Michelin guide this place loses its star as all aspects were nowhere near the required standard. Super disappointing and would not recommend."

"Probably we were just unlucky it was 5 pm staff leaving and new staff arriving took 20 mins to order wine only to be informed that I should order red wine and not white. Asked for ice for the water at the table was told that the water was cold enough main courses eventually arrived and not what I ordered! We had a plane to catch and the replacement was quick but the mood was broken. As I said maybe we were just unlucky but it seems they do take themselves a little too seriously perhaps give the customer what he/she wants."

"Un'esperienza culinaria da provare al centro di Taormina. La location è molto bella e affaccia sul corso, dopo aver salito delle scale vicino alla piazza del Duomo. Il menu è ristorante, sia pesce che carne, ma anche pizzeria, con interessantissime pizze gourmet, oltre alle classiche. Avendo provato sia pizzeria che ristorante posso dire che le portate sono di assoluta qualità: dall'antipasto al dolce, la qualità è palpabile. Da provare le pizze fritte come antipasto, i marinati, ma anche le pizze gourmet. Il tempo di attesa è breve anche a sala piena e i prezzi nella media, cosa non da poco vista la posizione centralissima."

"How wonderful! This charming place is located in a side and quiet street of Taormina from which you can see the sea. Already from the beginning we understand the friendliness of the managers. We're two and have lunch on the outside terrace. We order, to start, sea appetizer and fish to the carpaccio. The seconds chosen are homemade spaghetti and pasta with pistachio sauce. Everything is really superlative! The flavors are simple but decisive and tasty. The very abundant portions. In a few restaurants we enjoyed such good products. I highly recommend it!!!"

"Ristorante di Taormina molto rinomato, a noi ce l'ha consigliato il personale dell'albergo dove eravamo alloggiati. Quando siamo tornati in Hotel lo abbiamo ringraziato di cuore perché abbiamo mangiato benissimo passando una piacevole serata. Il locale è carino e d'estate di mangia all'aperto. La cucina è davvero ottima con numerose specialità a base di pesce. Buonissimi gli antipasti e anche i dolci. Prezzi un tantino alti, ma ci valgono tutti."

"Non succede spesso, ma a volte succede. l'abbiamo fatto alle 2:30 di ieri, abbiamo trovato questo magnifico ristorante per il nostro pranzo. ci siamo sistemati e in 10 minuti siamo già stati serviti. abbiamo preso la loro pasta ricci e gamberi me, e mia moglie un piatto di pasta rocciosa, tutto innaffiato con una deliziosa birra artigianale. tutto grande e delicato con pasta fatta in casa e materie prime fini. una menzione positiva al personale della stanza, cristian e giuseppe che erano di una gentilezza del passato, che solo in pochi luoghi ho trovato. una lode anche allo chef, per la cura che ha messo nella preparazione dei piatti, complimenti. Dimenticavo, ci hanno offerto anche l'amaro. Grazie, tornerò sicuramente da voi la prossima volta."

"small but well-kept place. they have no panoramic view for which they focus on the kitchen which is tasty even without inventions overwhelming. However the prawns in wire paste were amazing. good sea raw, unfortunately we have not had confirmation of the fall of anchovies, tuna etc. asked explicitly reassured us, in an uncertain Italian, who was very fresh and not frozen. so we make a sign of the cross and hope well. It is not enough the choice of wines, with more itg and igp than DOC/DOCG, but I took an igp berry based on caratto and really delicious zibibbo, with hints of yellow melon, mimosa, almond bitter. uninformed staff on technical details, but very kind and helpful. "We loved this place and came twice on our stay, every pasta dish we had was delicious. Unusual sauces on the vegan menu too, it seems a very thoughtful and considered vegan menu. "Passeggiando lungo il corso siamo stati attratti dal suggestivo vicolo dove ha sede il ristorante. Una straordinaria cortesia ci ha accolto dall'inizio alla fine della nostra permanenza. È stato impossibile non fare scarpetta Per secondo abbiamo scelto gli involtini di pesce spada, dove ogni singolo ingrediente, olio, mollica, pinoli, uva passa, finocchietto, non andavano a sovrastare il sapore dello spada. Per ultimo il conto assolutamente in linea con la qualità dei prodotti gustati. Torneremo ancora con molto piacere!"

"This dinner was very disappointing. In fact, nearly inedible. After a beautiful speech from the owner about how everything on the menu is fresh, and an interesting menu, we ordered happily 2 dishes that sounded incredible. When we received our risotto with red shrimps, what we received was very sad. It wasn’t truly a risotto, you could tell that it was just rice with a sauce poured on top. Then for the shrimp... where were they?? There were only 2 very tiny shrimps (the kind that you only find frozen) in the whole dish. On top of this, there was not a trace of salt. It was completely bland, not even a taste of shrimp. It was tasteless. We complained to the waitress who said she would tell the cooks. Then arrived our second course, a grilled piece of tuna on zucchini with onions. The onions were still cold and were clearly the kind that come straight out of a jar. Then the tuna... horrible. Again, this dish did not even have salt. We complained and asked for some salt and pepper and oil to try to fix it ourselves. But still, the quality of tuna was bad. It was definitely a frozen tuna (not fresh like we were told by the owner) and had a rubbery feel. On top of this, it didn’t have a flavor of having been grilled... it looked like it was, but it tasted like it had been grilled, then frozen, and then microwaved and plated for us. Just really sad. We also wanted to have a glass of wine, but the cheapest glass they had available was 16€. Then the bottles of wine we usually buy at home were over 4 times the price on the wine list. A normally 8€ bottle of wine was listed for 35€. And that was one of their cheapest wines on the list. In the end, extremely disappointing. We ate what we could manage because at such a late time there wasn’t much opportunity to get a reservation at another restaurant. On top of it all, it cost a lot. Was not worth even to walk in the door."
