"I think what does not make us go back here most is the terrible mood and service of the team leader/manager who is always her with blond hair. she speaks with such a claim to her personal and as a customer it is not...not to see. we felt so sorry for the rest of the staff that seemed so real and warm while their “leader” was the opposite. “Go and ask * to stay longer” was as she did not speak with a waitress or thank you. Then the waitress came back and let her know what they said, and she didn't even say thank you. there were several things like this, as unnecessary rude and flippant. at the order we were told “Bake items sell at 11am” as we should know?! here is an idea if articles they sell on the menu quite early, then make sure they serve enough that do not sell before lunch?! 3 other people went to say the same, it seems ridiculous that they did not make the changes to fulfill offer and demand. we could only have drinks, in which was overpriced and nothing special, a milkshake is a few pumps of sirup mixed with ice, which has been blatant for some time from the freezer, since it was not cold. will not return and hope that the other employees working in this facility will work for a business where they are appreciated because they deserve that."

Called in for coffee and cake last Friday whilst visiting the market. Only realised that they had charged an extra 50p because we asked if one of the coffee’s could be made with soya milk. Never come across this before, so won’t be returning.

for lunch on a rainy day with a wet and very big dog stopped! the personal could not have been more friendly and accommodating. savoury crepes were fantastic, we all decided differently and there was everything so good! this place is much more than coffee and...repeat, really different and such a good sound. would really recommend.

this time for a fast espresso and chocolate stopped, but had a brunch godet and coffee here before. I just love it. polit friendly and efficient service, eating was delicious and the coffee is particularly well brewed. the French chocolates are somewhat heavenly, and the galette was my favorite breakfast for a long time. there is also a beautiful mood at the place where the employees seem to really enjoy being there. really hard to blame, they keep it on team!

Waited ages in a cold part of the cafe to get a savoury crepe rudely plonked onto our table. The crepe was stringy cheese with sparse chicken and red peppers with a cardboard texture crepe and to top it off lukewarm! There was a queue...for the toilet near where people were eating and the table had bits of food from previous customers on it. The staff were extremely unfriendly and all in all this was a very unpleasant experience and overpriced for a mediocre tasteless crepe. We will definitely not be returning to this place again.

Queued patiently to order some cakes and was ignored several times by members of staff, eventually they tried to serve the gentleman behind me who kindly pointed out that I was in front of him, they still ignored me and walked off to clean tables,...again another member of staff tried to serve the gentleman behind me who again commented that I was in front of him (and also joked I must be invisible) again I was ignored but eventually got the attention of a member of staff who spoke to me like absolute rubbish and told me that as the gentleman behind was paying his bill he would be served first. After 10mins of queuing I gave up and walked out.

Apologies if this seems like a single issue review but we tried several independent coffee shops in the centre of Stamford at 4.30pm. All but cafe au chocolate seem to stop serving anything but takeaway 30 minutes before the published closing time, eg Strays, Black...and White. We also tried Skandimania and another but not sure what their published closing time us but takeaway only Anyway, lovely aromas in C au C, great service and lovely coffee. Good selection of drinks and pastries. We didn't have time to eat but the crepes looked really tasty. They were, deservedly, very busy and our order was slightly delayed so we were given delicious petit fours.

I'm trying to be fair in ensuring that the wet weather drove in more customers than expected, however there doesn't seem to be an system in place for placing and taking customer orders. Things started well when a young lady greeted us at the door...and told us it was table service and found us a lovely high table. However, other customers warned us we may need to jog their memory. I went to the counter to ask to place an order and then within a few minutes two people asked for our order. The crepes came quickly and were very good as well as good coffee. If only the management could sort a system where everyone knew who had come in and take their order quickly they would turn over places more...

Decided to try this place out on a trip to Stamford, looked really nice from the outside, and when we went in we were greeted by 2 nice ladies, sat in a quiet corner ordered 2 coffees and 2 pastries, I ordered Regular size coffees,...which were really small, my fault I should have ordered Large, the pastries were ok, not the best but not the worst either, my main bug bear was that we had to listen to disco music, not the right ambience for us, some people will obviously like that, but for us going for a coffee is a relaxing past time. There did look to be some lovely cakes in the display area, which on another day I would have tried, so overall I'd say decent but nothing special and not the...

today with my mother and my man randomly called and we would not have wanted to be better informed. the afternoon for 2 was delicious and definitiw good price-performance ratio, also another turn on the standard afternoon. the ham and cheese...crepe was fresh and tasty, very generous with the beats. already told family and friends of our visit and will be back at the next opportunity. the only problem is that my man is being worked up, which he will order at his next visit, as he enjoyed the afternoon so much, but really wants a crepe. we have to make an early morning and a lunch trip! the staff was very friendly and attentive. Wifi password on the table. toilets very clean. and dog friendly...

"The Stag Inn is a delightful looking pub overlooking the small green in the village of Barkston near Grantham. Internally the pub is clean and tidy with a range of two and four seater tables with New England shades of light blue on the painted table legs in the restaurant area. We didn’t venture into the pub side so can’t vouch for the decor in there. We arrived unannounced just after opening time of 12 and were offered a table with no difficulty. There was a menu of the usual offerings of fish and chips and a range of burgers together with roast salmon, chargrilled pork chop, a leek and cauliflower cheese pot pie, ham egg and chips and a vegetable lasagne amongst others. A specials chalkboard hung on the far wall and the crab and prawn salad with Mediterranean bread sounded so good we both opted for it. That was a mistake as we were to find out. The meals were reasonably quick to arrive and were served up in two large bowls with a dusting of paprika round the edges. What hit me immediately was the large flaccid green lettuce leaf draped over the edge of the bowl, together with a whole half-a-lemon that we each had. A small wedge would be perfect. The bread tasted sweet and was as far from the Mediterranean as it could possibly be apart from the occasional input of sundried tomato. What irked me most though was that the bread was delivered up pre-buttered with what looked like some bright yellow catering spread. A small ramakin of real butter between the two of us would work so much better. When asked if everything was okay I mentioned this and was told that chef would be informed. Having said all that the crab and prawn salad was full of flavour and sat on a nice mixed salad of red peppers, lettuce, red onion and cornichons. A word of advice to the wise….. don’t sit at the table near the restaurant counter as this is where the pub’s phone is located. On at least two occasions the phone was left to ring unanswered by the staff, presumably as they were busy elsewhere (the pub was by no means full) and was right behind my head! The volume of the ringer was high and it would have been a more pleasant experience for us if, firstly, it was answered and, secondly, the volume was turned down. On the plus side the staff were polite and helpful but the food not so great."
